Ibs and gerd help!!

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have been diagnosed with gerd and ibs, it all started when i had a bad reflux esophigus 4 months ago and i was perscribed lansoprazole.

at the end of the lansoprazole treatment i was still in pain from the reflux esophigus and eating was very painful (i have lost 3 stone since) but was told to use rennies which didnt help. i then started to get a bad watery diarrhea everyday sometimes with small stool in it. i rang the dr who said i have ibs aswell as gerd and he perscribed me laxidos and sennekot which have still done nothing.

i have now completely lost my appetite up to the point where i am only eating a cheese sandwhich a day. i am kept awake at night my the sounds of liquids going through my stomach and cramps until i go toilet at 4 am for watery diarrhea. i have been perscribed lansoprazole again which has helped the reflux esophigus. problem is is that i am serverly constipated and can still only eat 1 sandwhich a day and now i am starting to feel tired and dizzy and i completely have no appetite

please help does anyone else have this problem

    Hi there

So sorry you are feeling this way. I would personally go back to the doctor if you're feeling so bad, get him/her to listen to your symptoms properly and convey just how bad you're feeling.

In the meantime if you are constipated I would eat something other than sandwiches, maybe some veg to help with the constipation.

If you can hardly eat you could drink some protein shakes to keep the weight on, I've had to do this twice in my life and it works, I don't know which country you're in. In Spain these shakes are called Meritene, they give you all the vitamins you need and help your appetite.

Go back to doc and best of luck!

have you had an endoscopy? how can they diagnose any of that without stool tests and endoscopy!? i wouldnt accept any diagnosis without proper testing first. Many different illnesses can cause reflux/ diarrhea. Hope you get real answers soon

So sorry you are not feeling well. Digestive issues are the worst. I had IBS diarrhea about 14 years ago, could not eat and undigested food and lots of crampy belly pain. I started taking a soil probiotic and things calmed down after about 2 weeks. I am now not feeling well again with digestive issues, but yhey are different from what you are experiencing now. Hope soil probiotics help.
