IBS and non diabetic neuropathy

I'm almost afraid of the answer to this question. I've have on and off C&D flares since my mother passed last Feb. (also had several bouts in the past when under a lot of stress). I now notice that the little toe on my left foot and along the side of the foot are numb. Pads under my toes are numb on both feet. Feet have been tingling for some time too. I'm almost out of energy after caring for all my mothers affairs and now this. I also suffer from panic disorder. Feel like "I'm fixin to die."

Thanx pippa and all those who answered. My gut (excuse the expression) feeling was that the 3 (panic disorder, stress induced IBS, neuropathy and let's toss in depression from which I also suffer) are all bedfellows. Luckily so far, I have no pain connected with the numbness. I've upped my B complex and am trying to drink more water. Have seen my GP who said you have neuropathy (yeah right) and he said if it gets worse (not sure what he means by that), he will give me sript for gabapentin. No way cause I have no pain and told him so.. What I/we all need is a rest cure to lower our stress. Sigh. Thanx again.

Thanx Sloganlogo. A nice warm bath sounds good. Think I'll put in some Epson salts too cause I'm sure I'm magnesium deficient. IBSd causes all typed of vit deficiencies.

Hi Frazzled, so sory to hear of your problems.. please do the sensible thing and see your GP. It will put your mind at rest. I know from experience that the more you stress about it all, the worse it will seem... (and I know it's scary sometimes to confront these things) I hope/expect someone will come along here and give you a more definitive answer but do please consider your GP.

Hi pat. Not only did I talk to my GP but also I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy to rule out potential infections or other nasties. My GP told me I have neuropathy (see my reply to pippa).
Thanx for your reply and for caring. We're all in this together and any info we can share is hepful.

Thanx again pat. Yes, the next doc on my list is a neurologist to rule out other nasties that I am not aware of. But I am going to see a new IM and request a blood draw for B12. I want to know if I'm deficient in it. That alone could be part of the problem with my numbness.

Goof Idea.. the more tests you have the more that can be eliminated.. good luck and keep us posted Have them do bloods for Vit D.. I had a bank of tests done recently and Vit D wasn't bad but was advised to take a supplement by my GP.. tested also for thyroid deficiency and diabetes, cholesterol ..all ok.. although she said my cholesterol level is 5.9 (which is pretty good at 66 I think) she tried to get me to take Statins but I refused point blank! that did not go down well lol!

I agree with you. I had the standard tests done on blood work last month and it all looks OK but doc refused to put in script for D3 and B12 (that's my last visit to him). Have a new IM lined up (woman) who I'll see in a couple weeks. My D3 was approx 60 when taken 1 1/2 years ago and I do take it everyday so not to concerned about that but I know my B12 is low ( eat hardly any meat). I wish I could get off the statins but as soon as I go off, my lipids increase (high lipids run in my father's family line), Thanx for your reply and thoughfulness. Be well.
