I've tried medications and they didn't seem to work. Does anybody else suffer from excessive bloating?

    Hi Mick!

Have you tried keeping your dinner 'clean'; that is low in fats and carbs and high in vegetables with some protein like chicken breast? Then not eating after 7 pm? Drink a glass of water only between dinner and bedtime.

If you suffer from constipation, that can sure give you a bloated feeling so keep on top of that with plenty of fruits & veggies (6 - 10 servings per day), increased water intake, daily exercise...walking is excellent, avoiding tea until the constipation is under control, psyllium 1 tsp in a tall glass of water mid afternoon with a chaser of water if you can manage...and if that is not enough, what I personally take is 3 - 4 magnesium tablets before bed and I am regular first thing in the morning...and never with any pain.

It does sound like you are backed up. I watched a program on digestion and learned that we should be producing a 12 - 15 inch, soft, fluffy stool every morning....like Africans who are on a high fibre diet. http://altmedicine.about.com/od/coloncleanse/a/Foods-For-Constipation.htm

Also, maybe go for a relaxing walk after dinner.

    Good luck!

Hi Mick, sorry about the delayed reply, I don't get on the system all the time. I use Aloe Vera in it's purest and most concentrated form - a gel drink that I take a 'shot' of each day - it's wonderful stuff for all manner of thigs actually!!  I have to say it's not the best taste on it's own! (though you do get uised to it), but you can take with your favourite juice anyway.

Hi I've had IBS for 20 years and my mother and daughter have it. A shortage of folic acid and the B vitamins can cause this. When we take these supplements it settles.
