Has anyone tried Lactulose for constipation, and if so can it be used when you are following the fodmap diet?  The diet is meant to be low lactose so not sure its the right thing

My doc told me the other day that lactulose shouldn't be used for IBS. I didn't ask why as I had no intention of using it, but I would guess it's because of high sugar content. I use Fibrogel it is very good

Yes i have heard it causes more gas and pain in the beginning.  Its funny how different doctors advise completely opposite.  I was told to stay away from high fibre foods and things like fibrogel.  Am taking linseed (flax) but sometimes its not enough.

I had the impression from what I have read that there are good and bad fibres (for IBS) and fibrogel is a good one. There is do much info out there it's confusing!
