Have you had stool samples tested. I am having a terrible time put in samples private and has come back with a few infections. Getting herb treatment to see if it helps. I know how it feels I battle with it every day just now. Have you cut out any foods although if there is an Infection doesn't matter what you eat. Go to your doc for more tests. I take peppermint tea sometimes is calming. Hope you get sorted.

Went to the doctors today and got prescribed new medication and also asked for a stool sample so that should be getting sent away soon

Maybe try an antispasmodic like Buscopsn or ask your doctor to prescribe you one. You may need to try several.

First of all for acute attacks just eat what is light for stomach, like rice vegetables, juice, If you have constipation type you can use ISOBGUL, and as pippa said you can try buscopan just to ease spasms, But the most important thing is diet during this phase and also keep calm and don't take stress as stress makes it worse....If you have confirm IBS then for long term solution do exercise, yoga, Anxiolytics can help and food, keep eating healthy and keep food diary where which food is triggering your symptoms, you can try to avoid wheat as in my case it is a trigger thing, you can pay attention after eating wheat, peppermint and ginger is very healthy for stomach, try to eat more soft fibers and if you want long term solution I would suggest to go with naturopath or alternative medicine doctor, It helped  me, It might help youbiggrin

Hello George. My IBS symptoms have been really bad recently and I had to ring 111 at one point. They advised me not to take anything with ibuprofen in it as this could irritate the stomach further.
