IBS/Gas

Hi.

After I started work with a Big4 back in 2009, I've realised the following year that I havent been able to eat food that I used to eat before without having gas problems.

I did see a specialist and was diagnosed with IBS. I also saw a nutritionist and did a food intolerance test and was intolerant with dairy/gluten.

I've avoided the above food but even on days I do not eat it, I still experience gas issues.

I'm kinda lost now and wondering if i should see a specialist again or a naturopath or if there's specific tests to be done?

Thanks.

Couple of things which helped me:

    1. Try to keep in mind or a log of what you are eating during the day and what has been generated the gas issues. Even though i'm lactose intolerant and eliminated completed any type of milk from my diet, i occasionally encounter one type of food which gives me cramps or gas (e.g. pork). Sometimes even the way the food is cooked makes a difference.

    2. In addition since i was always concerned with what i eat, i became very anxious in eating at restaurants, travelling etc.. which was making my IBS even worse. Continuously bloated more frequent visits to be bathroom etc.. i have visited my GP and discussed this topic with him, he suggested a low dose of antidepressant (Serimel) together with talking to a Psycotherapist and even though i was shocked with the idea of taking anti-depressants, i took up his suggestion and after 6 weeks this helped me dramatically.

Hope my experience can help you feel better. Good luck
