Hi there.
It all started 2 months ago with what i thought it was a stomach bug..but after three weeks i went to to gp and she said it might be IBS. My symptoms at the moment were..nausea, absominal discomfort like period cramps and mucous in stools. I dont have diarrhea neither constipation. She ran blood tests and everything was fine. But i seem to be the same or even worse.. i stil suffer from nausea (specially after opening bowels) stil with period cramps like. And now i have this very annoying and discomforting hip pain and very tired and moody all the time. And i havent had my period this month. Is this all normall for IBS? Missing periods? This is weird cos i am very regular and also annoying cos i am planning on having a second child and not possible without my period obviously.
I would appreciate any suggestions or knowing if this is normal for IBS or maybe something else is going on.
Thank you for your time.

Hi Asuncion,
Not having period is because of the stress and anxiety resulting from ibs... and it is not due to ibs at all.
Don't worry,
Try to drink as much water as you can daily..
1Lt or more than that at least.

Hi again Asuncion.
You will get used to ibs symptoms soon like me and many others.
Just watch your diet and avoid fatty foods as much as you can...
Try to check other people's suggestions regarding ibs in this site...
By that, you'll get more knowledge on the different approaches and remedies others follow.
It will help you alot.
And like I said
Water water water
Don't forget you are brave

All of your symptoms sound exactly like the symptoms I experience when I have an IBS flare up. I had about a month of bad abdominal pain that felt just like period cramps in the Spring, so I saw my OBGYN who confirmed that everything was perfectly fine with me gynecologically and determined that it was digestive. The GI doctor said it seemed like an IBS flare up but didn't offer much advice in the way of immediate relief. It was the GP who suggested that I try taking Miralax, which worked. I took a full dose of Miralax for two days straight and it cleaned me right out and the pain finally went away. Now, every time I have that lower abdominal pain, I take Miralax daily for several days. I would give that a try.
As for the missed period, that could definitely be stress. It's not really a common IBS symptom, but IBS is often stress-related and missed periods can also result from stress. Of course, if you are actively trying to have a second child, it is possible that you are pregnant--have you ruled out that possibility already?

If you have IBS, you would be having loose, urgent stools or diarrhoea and or constipation. Constipation can be anything from hard pellet like stools or not being able to go at all. Bowel habit change is a key symptom of IBS. If you don't have these changes, it may be that they have been too sublte for you to notice. It may be that you have atypical IBS which means you have IBS but your symptoms are not typical of the condition. However, it is also possible that you don't have IBS.
.
Periods can make IBS abdominal pain worse. IBS pain can feel like period cramps. Everyone is different with IBS, but I have never heard of missing your periods with IBS. This sounds like something else is going on. I would get a second opinion.

I had to go to my gp on Saturday as I couldnt stand this annoying discomfort. She said my pain is too low in my abdomen so she thinks it my have something to do with my ovaries or uterus. I am stil waiting for the blood tests results to discard the scary bits like cancer..although she said it would be weird simce i am only 32 and there isnt any overian cancer in my family...but could be a cyst maybe.
Anyway... I will let u know once i know more...and thanks again for your messages and time.
