ibs, Ibd or Blastocystis -help!

Hi there
im new here.
im currently- my dr and I - trying to figure out whatis going on with my bowels.
Short of a colonoscopy these are what they could be.
ive had bad bowels for 3 months - constipated, diaherroa, constipated again and now undigested loose stools that to pop - re : burning!!!
i did have blastocystis found in one stool sample but not others.
Reading about it makes me think it's that which sucks as it's almost impossible to get rid of!
does anyone here think this sounds familiar to IBS?
i use to get intense pain before a bowel movement but now only mild but with burning-almost like id eaten a curry(sad to say I haven't)
I'm really at the end of my rope- I'm 38- no history of colon cancer and all blood tests (I did them all twice) came back clear - in fact better second time round - but I'd love a normal poop!!!!!!!!
any help would mean more to me than you realise......
thank you.

I'd prefer vancomycin vs the flagyl but that's only a "personal" preference without adequate science to support my preference. My drug info is 4 years old...its possible new protozoa treatment may be available. You need to rule this in or out quickly IMO. I no longer work around animals nor have pets in close contact. regardless, I'd get my dr to prescribe the two above meds yesterday. The quick look into abstracts seem to be coming from Japan?? Sashimi? Claudio

I assisted a student with English complete her thesis on the "liver fluke" perhaps 5 years ago...the data was pure "crap"...like expecting to find the cause of your vehicles starter not to engage by checking the air in tyres?
The sashimi remark was only a side connection when I "quickly" took a quick look at the abstract authors of Blastocystis isolates "Abe, Abe, yosikawa etc...I too eat sashimi but I'm confident of the process that eliminates parasites..I eat only Tuna Sashimi nowdays..not any other.
I don't like taking meds..especially super strong ones like flagyl but a measured risk for a measured gain?...However, perhaps the better approach ...If I had confidence in a good parsitologist, I'd at least give them a call, described symptom/s and lab result...ask for "an opinion".

Many types of parasites…the Liver Fluke had my keen attention since my former wife often prepared
Water cress…and this is where the buggers were most prominent.
I found this article from a guy who had studied blastocystis “cases” and was appalled at the wide variety
Of medications used including the ones I mentioned without eradication.
Posting this in the event you haven’t already found this: Claudio
“I spent most of my childhood in the countryside in Denmark. Moving down from Norway, my parents had bought a small farm, although they were not farmers. We did have some animals though, e.g. cats, a dog, chickens, sheep, and at some point even a couple of tortoises. I don't think I ever received antibiotics throughout childhood, except from once when being hospitalised due to surgery back in 1975. In 1990, I sustained a severe bicycle accident and was admitted to hospital; I believe I must have received some antibiotics back then, too. I have travelled extensively, and spent several months in e.g. Laos and Thailand in 2003/2004, three weeks in India in 2007, etc.
I started testing myself for Blastocystis only in 2009, and just like at least 20% of mankind, I was positive. Since then I re-checked myself every now and then, and I was always positive for the same strain (evidenced by DNA analysis), ST1 allele 4. However, in early 2014 I had major dental surgery, and I was prescribed tablets three times daily for six days. These tablets contained amoxicillin (500 mg) + the beta-lactamase inhibitor clavulanic acid (125 mg). A couple of weeks after completing antibiotic treatment, I tested myself a couple of times, and Blastocystis had vanished! Also today there is no sign of it...”

I would love to be able to help you but I am not medically trained and I would be guessing if I suggested something. I think you should go back to your GP with all your symptoms listed on a piece of paper. The reason I say this is because you are less likely to leave anything out. If the GP does suggest you have a colonoscopy don't turn it down. I did the first time, I was an idiot.
You cannot asume you have IBS until it is properly diagnosed. You could try changing your diet a bit, this might help you and cannot do you much harm.
I changed to eating plenty of fruit and vegetables, oats potatoes and brown rice with a little probiotic yogurt each day. I eat a little meat and fish but not too much.
I limit foods high in fats and sugars and do not touch butter, cheese, cakes, biscuits and pastries. I have replaced fats with a little olive oil, nuts and seeds. I also drink plenty of water.
This diet seems to work well for me and I have IBS and type 2 diabetes. I also had a weight problem and this diet has caused me to loose seven stone.
I do hope something here helps you but please make an appointment to see your GP.
Best regards
robert
Wishing you a very happy christmas.
