I am on long term antibiotics for e-coli infection. I suffer from ibs and wonder if taking probiotics would help. My doctor says the antibiotics are like domestics and clears all the healthy bacteria in the stomach. Would a priobitic help. I am also on many medications and have to be careful what I should take.

Hi, Antibiotics are indiscriminate they wipe out good and bad bacteria, you should try to get a multi strain probiotic as strong as possible, can you get Kefir ?, Kefir is a strong probiotic drink, there is milk Kefir and water Kefir, you can make Kefir yourself, it's very easy, lots of info online about Kefir, the good bacteria in your digestive system do all sorts of things, play apart in the immune system, things to do with nutrient uptake etc.
