IBS pain and issues

Hi
I have bloating every day and pain in my right side near my belly button , hip pain and also oddly enough a really achy arm.
Im not sure what to do as been to the doctors numerous times and also had 3 CT scans, 2 Ultrasounds, 3 FIT tests and numerous blood tests and all clear.
The symptoms seem to be getting worse and im in constant pain all day and quality of life is terrible.
Any ideas appreciated.

Hallo Darren. My immediate thoughts were either appendix problems or a hernia, but I guess both of those have been ruled out if you have had all those tests. Why do you call it IBS pain?.....do you have diarrhea?Do you know what the scan and USS results actually said? How does your hip pain present itself? When you are walking or....?

Hi
The scan did show a small hernia and copy of some of the ultrasound report below.
There is a paraumbilical hernia present in the midline approximately 2.5cm above the umbilicus containing non reducible infillaration
The liver has an increased echogenicity the most common cause is the diffuse fatty infiltration.
focal fatty sparing seen adjacent to the gall bladder.
All CT scans picked up the hernia and also fatty liver and and been told nothing to worry about and the hernia would not cause any bloating.
The only issue was bloods ALT came back high with a reading of 60 and i did have a telephone appointment with a liver specialist and no further action was needed. I also had a phone appointment with Gastroenterologists and she said everything was ok and its a clear case of IBS
Seen a number of different doctors and all quoting IBS.
Been honest i feel like im been fobbed off but not sure what else i can do.
My bowels are normal and toilet every day with no issues and no blood.
Although a few weeks ago the stools were a pale colour and this is back to normal.
I also suffer from indigestion/ acid reflux and taking Omeprazole.
Any advice appreciated

hi Darren, that explains a bit more. the liver fat thing hmm i can not advise you on this at all! as for IBS it's a set of symptoms that are the final thing but as you say can be a fob off by doctors who don't know better. you could ask for a camera maybe see what you think of asking about that. you may get it or not? hmm i suppose if it was bowel related you would know about it. i certainly knew i had coeliac disease! if you have bowel difficulties then you would certainly know about it! i hope they find out what is really wrong....

Hallo Darren. I think you have several things going on here. Firstly can you feel the hernia? and if you can are you able to push it back?
I'm not sure your hip pain is related at all and could be something different entirely.
I think your most pressing problem is your liver , especially with an ALT of 60. This is reaching the upper limit although it could go higher. Your pale coloured stools, acid reflux, indigestion and taking omeprazole would seem to be linked. For a start, try going on a low fat diet, excluding as much as possible. Did your doctor prescribe the omeprazole or are you self medicating with something you bought yourself? If you are self medicating do be careful .....omeprazole should not be taken on a permanent basis.
Is your arm pain in your right shoulder? If so, that could also be related to your liver.
Do try the low fat diet for a couple of weeks but keep badgering your doctor. If you dont go back to the doctor, they have no idea you are still suffering.

Hi
Called my doctor today to check my recent ATL levels test and he told me it was normal and not raised.
I have been using omeprazole for the last 6 months ( prescribed by the doctor) and also noticed from some online reviews omeprazole can cause muscle pain and also a few cases with pelvic pain.
Yes i can feel small lump near my belly button and not possible to push it back in. I am over weight and need to shed 2-3 stone and will stick to a diet to see if that helps.
I will also try another appointment with the doctor although i get the feeling its going to be same conclusion of IBS.
Thanks for the advice 😃

Hi Darren, yes do try to lose weight. That could be contributing to your hip problem. A low fat diet would help you in lots of ways and also dont consume any alcohol. Wishing you lots of good luck, but keep badgering that GP if you feel things are bad.
