IBS - Shortness of Breath, Sternum Pain and Palpitations

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with IBS last year and I have recently been experiencing shortness of breath which feels like my diaphragm is tight and spasming. I also get a pain in the middle of my ribs where my solar plexus is and this gets worse when I sit upright as it feels like something is getting squished. The shortness of breath causes me to feel dizzy and tingly all over my body. The spasms also sometimes trigger palpitations, especially when trying to lie on my left side or stomach at night. I also suffer from mild gastritis but I was just wondering if anyone else has similar IBS symptoms to mine???

Hello, I have very similar symptoms and lots more. Did they diagnose IBS by ruling everything else out?

i had the same symptoms at some point on my journey with IBS, shortness of breath and chest pain but worse than all the palpitations they happen to me alot which sometimes cause me insomnia.

in my case Prokinetic Agents helped with shortness of breath and chest paint but doesn't help with palpitations.

    hi Yasmin,

it sounds like typical IBS symptoms . Many people have exactly those symptoms. I have exactly these symptoms. I also feel squished when sitting upright. The shortness of breath is typical ... I always used to worry about my lungs or my heart. But after many many examinations and tests I learned my lungs and heart were fine. When you have excluded all this .you may find out :. The reason we feel like we cant breathe ... is because the gut/stomach pain is so great that .... that you think you can't breathe. I then always feel dizzy like. Do you also feel very tired ??
