IBS sufferer

I am an IBS sufferer and ever since I was put on Strong antibiotics by my dentist for an abcess my tummy seems to be upset all the time with having odd bouts of diarrhea . I have a bloated tummy and have put on weight around my tummy and at times I get a niggle towards left side BT ribs but, below the breastbone or boobs. It feels likes perhaps, it is a nerve niggle and feels at times like something digging in. It is nasty when I am sitting having a meal, whether it gets squashed up with fat when, in that position, I just don’t know. Does anyone else get this and what caused it as can feel myself getting anxious about it. Would like to hear if you can enlighten me, thank you!

Antibiotics will really mess with your digestive system. If it’s continued, you may need to seek medical advice. All the best for a full recovery.

Antibiotics can upset your stomach; Try probiotics to reset your gut flora. Some people with IBS get ribcage pain but pain in this location is also associated with gastritis.  Bloating is an IBS symptom and so is acid reflux.  Since you are anxious, see your doctor again.

Hi doonebabe, Antibiotics can trigger the IBS episode, Amoxicillin's known side effect is diarrhea if that what you are prescribed....And in any antibiotics it disturb your gut bacteria and trigger IBS....you should focus more on probiotics, It will replace your gut"s healthy bacteria...Live bacterial probiotics are better...And antibiotics can also disturb your stomach and can cause gastritis....and bloating is one of its symptoms...so over the counter omeprazole 20mg might help in that.

Antibiotics will cause D. I started taking probiotics last year. A really good one is 1MD Probiotics Platnum. You can get it for about $34 a bottle (1 month supply). I also drink a Pronourish drink every day. For a while my IBSD was under control but for the last 8 weeks it has been so out of hand. I see my gastro dr in 2 weeks to see what else can be done to get me back to a managable place. I have lost 4 work days in June alone!! Joining this forum has really opened my eyes on the various symptoms we all experience. The highs and lows are crazy!!!
