IBS sufferer thinking of trying Symprove but does it really work?

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hello, I am relatively new to using forums so forgive me if my post is a little vague. I was just wondering if anybody has used this particular treatment before and whether or not it has worked for you? I've tried many other treatments already including Colpermin and Buscopan for shorter term relief. I really need to try something new and I think this could be it. Just to let you know I am a female who has suffered with IBS for roughly 30 years on and off.

Any help on this topic would be much appreciated!

Yes I have Ibs and used Symptove. I can honestly say I was amazed at how much it worked. My Ibs was so bad I had even been taken to a&e as my stomach wouldn't stop spasming. I was shocked at how much difference it made. Within 2 wks I stopped having attacks. My bowels were regular. I was able to eat dairy which I hadn't been able to eat for a few years without paying the price for it.

    It's really worth trying!!!

Thank you for your informative response,I've came across this recently and based on the reviews it really does seem worth trying! I'm just wondering are you still taking Symprove or do you only take it for a certain amount of time? And did you personally experience any side effects? I'm so glad to hear it has worked for you!

I didn't have any side effects. I took it for a number of months but stopped for a while. If and when I start having symptoms again I start again. If I have to take antibiotics I start taking it again as well. Hope it helps! It made an amazing difference for me.

I'm right there with susand1408. Having also been admitted to A&E on several occasions and suffering with worst case IBS-C (constipation) for 12 years - Symprove changed my life! It got a bit worse during the first week before it got better, but I stuck with it and I'm so glad I did because I somehow morphed into a teenage version of me before this all started! Tons of energy and lots more freedom to eat what I want. Where were Symprove 12 years ago??

I suggest demanding a food allergy test to make sure (as I was allergic to peanuts all my life and had no idea!) Get a dietician with the NHS if you're based in the UK to guide you through a low FODMAP diet and absolutely try the Symprove 12 week challenge. I know it's expensive but if I've wasted a lot of money on other duff probiotics and 'fads' that never worked, so I don't want you to do the same.

I tried it for 2 weeks and that when I noticed the difference, but everyone is different.

Hope this helps! Please keep in touch and let me know how you get on smile

Hello Samantha, I appreciate and thank you for your reply. It's great to hear that something is really working for people. Lets hope I get the same imporvements from taking it.

I have had an allergy test in the past and have just been told the usual, what to stay clear of, not that i'm allergic to anything.

After hearing what others have to say I think i will definately give it a try!

Once again thank you for your reply and I will keep in touch when i begin my course!

Hi Wynn, I have used Symprove for about three years and it has changed my life. I can pretty much eat what I like whereas previously I had a very restricted diet. Even when ve had to take antibiotics I have been fine before Symprove I basically count how near them. I have recently had major orthopaedic surgery and had to take tons of analgesia and it has been a struggle but without Symprove it would have been much worse

Hello Catrin, just wondering have you used it for three years straight or taken gaps in between? I am currently on quite a restricted diet myself but at times this doesn't make a difference. Thank you for your response I really appreciate it!

Hi Wynn, Sorr for the late reply I was away and no wifi. I take a small capful every day. What is called a maintenance dose. That is all I have ever taken but yes I take it everyday. When I started to take it it took about two to three weeks to take effect.
