IBS symptoms and possible reflux?

Hi! I’ve been diagnosed with IBS recently. I’m on a low fodmap diet but it only seems to be helping my stool- no diarrea or constipation. I still feel bloated with wind. I use colease when my tummy cramps and peppermint oil tablets. I’ve also tried iberogast. I get episodes of illness occasionally- nausea, vomiting, cramps, gas, diarrea, flushing etc. Like gastro but not gastro. It incapacitates me and I end up in bed for a day or more. I wake up nauseous most mornings so I’ve started taking protein whey shakes to fill my tummy and stop the nausea. Sometimes it feels like theres something pushing up in my esophagus but not burning. I burp a lot after meals. I have no idea what to do anymore. My tests all came back normal. The endoscopy was normal except for some candidiasis in my esophagus- the dr doesn’t think its Barretts syndrome. Tonight I’m trying apple cider vinegar! Please help!?

Hi wanted to ask you if you live in England like me. If so than I would recommend to keep on bothering the GP about your problem. You must be anxious with all of this and that causes Stomach acidity. Please don't think you are silly with it all there are a lot of other people who have been wrongly diagnosed with IBS like me for 40 years. Do I got it right that you suffer from Diarrea? If so than when you see the GP make sure that is your only complaint and that it is ruining your quality of life. Gp's really are looking for an IBS diagnose it would not cost the NHS a lot of money as there is nothing they can do about it. Endoscopy is useless.

Hi there. I've got gastric reflux and IBS. Also polyps in my stomach lining caused by too much acid. So I do know what you are going through. I am also on the Low FODMAPS diet. It's made me change my diet quite a lot and I find it very restrictive, but I don't seem to have a choice. It has significantly reduced my attacks of diarrhoea. Am Glad that it is helping you some what too. I use peppermint oil for the bloating, 200 mg capsules before meals, 3 tims a day. I also take a probiotic with my meals 3 times a day. Have you tried any probiotics? If not, you might want to. The one recommended by my doc is called Pro-Gut. It's worked for me the last 6 months and I feel much better and more in control of my system. I used to drink Whey protein shakes after my workouts before, but started to notice bloating soon after. So I've stopped that.
