IBSD / immodium

my doctor has tried me on several different anti-diarrhea medications that have stopped working after a couple of months. My diarrhea has been so bad that I can go over 20 times a day. They now have subscribed me Loperamide, prescription immodium. I take 8 pills a day which does always work. They said to take PeptoBismol tablets if necessary, up to 4 a day. Between all the meds it has slowed the diarrhea done to about 10 times a day.
My biggest issue is the pain and gurgling. I'm always in pain no matter what I eat or drink. The gurgling is so loud that if I leave my house others can hear my stomach. Doctors can explain the pain or the gurgling. Recently when I have a BM, it is a darker brown with a lot of yellow cream colored mucus that is very thick. Contacted doctor about that but still no response.
If anyone has had this or has any suggestions of how to relieve it I would appreciate the advice.
Thank you

Go back to your doctor's and urgently, you're not very well at all. you need medication to sort your bowel out. don't take no appointments as an answer. good luck, it sounds like fats on top of your bowel movements, but that's not right. sorry didn't mean to shock you.

seen my doctor already had test done and they are all clear. pancreas, liver, and kidneys all checked out good. even gallbladder test was negative. I've been to ER twice, they give me IV and some meds then after 6 to 8 hours send me home and say to contact my own doctor. I've seen 4 differect GI specialist and get the same results.

20 times per day is unlikely to be ibsd. your dr should have sent you to the hospital immediately. that level of toilet attendance is considered a major issue.

Do you get egg burps or gas at times as well? I have the same symptoms as you chronically but with smelly egg (sulphur) burps as well. Lomotil is another option to try to relieve the diarrhea. The only time I feel decent is when I am on antibiotics. I have been this way for over 4 years with some days ok and some days really really bad where I cant even leave my house.

I have a lot of gas and burps. Don't smell like eggs but the burps do smell. I have tried Lomotil but it causes my heart rate to increase, I also have IST, so I need to be careful. I have taken lots of antibiotics and I feel better while on them. Been like this for years.

Did you ever have a SIBO breath test done. SIBO stands for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Doctors call it dysbiosis, it's a major cause of IBS-D. It is the only test I tested positive for and I have had them ALL, even a pill capsule exam. Treatment for it is the same Rifaxamin treatment they use for IBS. However when you come off it, symptoms return within days to weeks. What antibiotic has worked best for you?

No I never had the SIBO test. I requested it but was told it wasn't necessary. I was on Rifaxamin a couple years ago felt good til it stopped. The only antibiotic I can take is Cipro but they said I can't take it for long periods.
