    Hi Tony,

Ibuprofen is a pain killer and anti-inflamatory as such it is well suited to treat CS pain.

Taken for a short period of time it's fine, however over longer periods it can cause stomach problems. Also if you suffer from reflux (heartburn) it will make that worse.

It's not the strongest pain killer on the market so may only take the edge off the pain if you suffer intense pain. Still you won't know until you've tried it.

Also I tend to feel that if your doctor/consultant has recommended it then you should follow their advice. If it doesn't work then tell them.

how can any well informed person who knows about cs reccomend ibuprofen for the not inconsiderable pain which it brings. believe me it wont touch it , not in the slightest. i know my tolerance level for pain releif is low but ibuprofen what a joke. having suffered with this as you all know for the past 18yrs and counting, i am on such high levels of meds i cant tolerate any pain at all any more, so maybe i am biased sorry.. chris xx

Hi Chris, I totally agree with you but you've got to start somewhere otherwise we may as well make the jump straight to morphine.

Hopefully Tony will get some relief from Ibuprofen but if the CS takes it's usual course then stronger meds will undoubtedly follow.

For myself I deal with the pain best I can without drugs and it's other symptoms that seriously get me down. Lack of sleep being the main one, I already suffer from Sleep Apnoea waking up due to pain in my neck and horrendous headaches is really taking it's toll.

One of my children was prescribed ibuprofen in an Australian public hospital for pain and suffered severe hallucinogenic character altering effects that lasted months.
