Ice pick headache day before migraine

Hi, wondering if anyone else has had this. I've always had migraine auras without headaches but my migraines are changing and this is a new thing for me. I had a bad left sided aura this morning, no headache afterwards as usual but yesterday I had the weirdest headache I've ever had - several isolated sharp stabs of pain on the left side of my head high up. It didn't feel like normal head pain and felt odd like a migraine build-up feeling. Seems strange to get a headache before a migraine but that's migraines for you!

I also get auras without a headache.  But I have never had those sharp stabs.  Once I think I got a pain stab around my eye

I did want to ask you ask you please.

How did you get diagnosed?   How did you find out that these are migraines.

I am assuming your auras are the ocular one.  I get those seasonally, usually  Sept/Oct  and then again March/April   Just the ocular thing but no headache after.

I had an mri and a bone spect scan and all was good

BUT, what I get daily is a quick dizy, then my face fills with presssure from my forehead down past my cheeks.  My left nostril plugs as well as my left ear.  I am all off balance and feel like I am on a boat. Oddly it seems to come around the same time of day

By the way, my sinuses are fine

My neuro  thinks this is silent migraines.   I have had this daily for many years.

Does any of this relate to you?

Hi, I've had these silent migraines since my 20's but now they're getting really frequent- worst was 9 attacks in15 days in January. I get the typical zigzag scintillating expanding scotoma auras plus double vision auras and blind spots. Right sided auras are worst, I feel more off balance with those, never had sinus trouble but think there is a link with hay fever as piriton reduced them ( unfortunately I started getting vestibular auras so stopped taking it). Most auras come when I wake up. Diagnosed myself at first but doctor agreed with diagnoses. Have had weird symptoms in past including phantom smells (reason for seeing doctor) but never this strange brief headache. I get tinnitus with migraine too, does this happen with your daily ones?

No, I do not get tinnitus.

But what is weird is that also get seasonally vertigo  (BPPV)   Usually the same time of year.   I have had vertigo for 4 weeks now.  And I get this really strange bad food smell at the time.  I have had that nasty smell thing for 2 weeks

Yes I had a bout of it last year at end of April. The day before an aura I was suddenly surrounded by a warm stench of something rotten that lasted a few minutes, at other times I got a sweet wood smoke smell. I haven't experienced it since last June. Last November I nearly fell over with vestibular migraine making the ground tip up under me so am getting used to unexpected changes.
