Hi Nanulance, you're right about a lot of the posts being very old.  I have just replied to one that was first posted 7 years ago!  It depends whether the person who posted is following the posts or not.

Regarding your eyes.  Have you discussed the grittiness with your Ophthalmologist?  It sounds as though they are dry.  After you have had a cataract done, they give you all sorts of drops and some of those make your eyes dry.  Have you got some 'artificial tears'?  Also known as ocular lubricants.  I use Liquifilm [which are 'liquid'] and Lacrilube, which is also known as an eye drop but is more like vaseline.  I use Lacrilube when I go to bed because it makes my eyes blurred but has worn off by the morning.

My eyes feel sore through the night, however my main problem I'd.  After having both cataracts removed early this year, I have a weird sensation of looking through a tunnel, it feels as if there is something around the pupils. My pupils are smaller too. The optician thought it could be that my brain hasn't yet adjusted to the new vision but also told me it should improve. It hasn't and though my sight has improved I constantly feel strange!

Hello Jean, can't you go back to the Ophthalmologist who did the op for you?  Years ago, when I was having problems, an Optometrist told me to go to the A&E where my notes [eye] were, which I did, I was then seen by an Ophthalmologist.  You might find yourself under a different Consultant, it depends who is on take at the time.

I had also gone to A&E on a day that I knew to be a day when there was an Ophthalmology Clinic, so they sent me round to the clinic after assessing me in A&E

At night I too can feel the lens when I lie on my side with my problem eye, I have to put my hand on my face to lift the eye off the pillow.  Doctors will tell you that you can't feel the lens it is too far back, this only happens with the one eye and it is the eye I am having the trouble with.

Jean  It is devasting when you are left with a problem eye.  I had my last cataract done in December and it has been very difficult to deal with as I have just been left to get on with it.  Today I have purchased an eye pad that you warm up which I am going to give it go.  Apparently it is arriving in about a week so I will let you know how I get on with it and let you know if it help.  I have tried many many different drops but haven't found the right one for me.  Carol

Thank you ,interested to hear how you got on ..try putting your drops in fridge

I am interested about putting the eye drops in the fridge I can see it makes sense as it would cool down the sore eye, as a Doctor suggested that you can do that without damaging the drops.  At the moment I am trying hyco san.
