If I stopped Prozac 7 years ago, will it work again?

I tood Prozac for 8 years and stopped 7 yeras ago. Now I would like to take it again after failing with Viibyrd, Effxor and and two others. I only took them from 3 to 16 days and found the side effects to be terrible.

Has anyone had success with Prozac the second time around with this much time in between?

Hi Nancy! I've heard plenty of success stories of people being able to get back on prozac. The only thing that I could see happening is maybe having a bit of a harder time with the side effects.

Yep was on it 25 years ago for 2 years... then had a break of 5 years and went on citlopram for 18 years... now back on 40mg Prozac for 8 months and wish I had just stayed on them.

      Hi Nancy,

I was also on Prozac for 25 years and it pooped out 4 years ago. I am back on it again. Both doctors and pharmacists I have spoken to say it is basically new to your system and it should work as well as it did the first time.
