If it's not RA what could it be?

I've just been for an appointment with the Rheumatologist. I have a very painful stiff shoulder, and pain in other joints. My RF was slightly raised last August when I had a blood test at my GP surgery.  However today the consultant said she didn't think I did have RA but there were a number of conditions she was considering. I had a raft of blood test, X-rays and a cortisone injection. Anyone got any idea what it could be?

I had a raft of blood tests, about 8 vials were filled, X-ray on my shoulder and both knees and a steroid injection in my shoulder. I'm now waiting for the rheumatologist to contact me when she gets all the results back. One blood test she didn't do was my RF. I suppose it's because it was done last August and it's unlikely to change her diagnosis.

hi matron, finally got my first appointment with the Rheumatologist yesterday. Had been feeling good yesterday when i went in. Could move all my joints etc. My left shoulder is so sore the last few days, very hard to even drive.  Feels like a sharp stabbing pain with little movement.  Anyway he told me yesterday he is not 100% sure that i have RA, even though last two GPs told me thats it.  I had to get lots more blood tests done yesterday, he is checking for virus before giving me any treatment.  Next appoinment is in two weeks so hopefully ill have some answers then.  When is your next appointment?

Hello clare your story is very similar to mine. I didn't get another appointment. The rheumatologist said she would contact me when she had the results of my blood tests and X-rays. I've been doing some research and thinking about my appointment the other day. Some of the questions she asked I gave positive answers. Like blister type rash on my hands and hair coming out. I think I have Lupus. It all fits into place now.

Hi chrissie. I only had all my tests 2 days ago. I'll just have to wait and see. I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder and it's really helped.

Possibly chrissie but the rheumatologist actually said she didn't think it was. Anyway I suppose I'll just have to wait and see.
