Thank you in advance for anyone that reads this. I am a 53 year old male, father and husband.. I am searching for answers. Since October I have been experiencing signs of a MND.
To keep this short as possible I won't list all my symptoms. Some seem better others are getting worse by the day.
I have passed 3 physical tests and 2 EMGs. I was a very strong athletic person before all this. I know my body and something is way off. Since the first Dr said anxiety it seems other Dr's are pushing towards that DX and not digging deep. I've experienced anxiety before and it never produced these type symptoms.
My hopes is that it is anxiety but I'm not as anxious as people think. I have yet to have any failure but I think my muscles were very strong to start with. The ones that were not worked out have weaknesses and atrophy.
The main symptoms that I'm concerned about are. Muscle loss all over, fasciculations all over including face, very wobbly legs/arms when certain muscles are engaged, sore and popping joints and some weird throat issues. I will be glad to go into more if anyone is interested in knowing.
My thought is with all the muscle loss the EMG/NCS would have seen something.( many different opinions on that based on research). I realize a MND is very hard to diagnose. Has anyone because of anxiety had their body experience many symptoms of a MND? Also my Neuro definitely thinks something is wrong but says he don't think it's ALS or MS but we will have to keep an eye on it. He said to research FND's and maybe see a Cognitive Therapist. Any advice or opinions will be greatly appreciated. I just want to get back to a normal life again.

My first post was pretty lengthy with much to look over. I'll see if I might can just start getting little bits of info and advice. I realize a clear EMG and passed physical exams is a good indication that it's not MS/ALS. First question. What else could cause all limb/body muscle loss in 6 months? All over body twitching? There is so many conflicting reports that say all this with no failure is very uncommon and points away from ALS (some disagree). I'm tired of continuing to ask doctors after they say they can't find anything. I was very muscular before so they cannot tell how much I have lost. I definitely can tell. Has anyone got any thoughts or how I can get any answers or do I just continue to wait and see if it gets worse? Thank you in advance.

Hi there. I notice that you have had a couple of EMG'S done. This test will tell you if you have ALS/ MND. Whilst i cant explain your muscle atrophy but i can tell you the 'hallmark' symptom of MND is clinical weakness. For example, some people may experience a footdrop where they keep falling over or they may keep dropping things due to hand weakness. My understanding of MND is that it's more about failure rather than feel. Whoever told you that is not always the case is wrong. Remember, the hallmark symptom of MND is clinical weakness. Twitching doesn't come until later in the disease due to the muscle dying. If you can feel & still do things then the odds are very good that you don't have MND. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon.
