If you have a monofocal set for distance, what is your vision like at close up, intermediate etc.

I have a Symfony multi-focal in my right eye since Feb 2016, I can see a computer screen crystal clear, intermediate / distance vision are around -.75 prescription but I dont wear glasses. Decent results but now is time for my left eye and considering getting a monofocal since the multifocal has given me alot of bad side effects.

The doctor said I should get a monofocal set for distance, but wondering for anyone who has a monofocal set to distance, what is your vision like with that eye at close up and intermediate. Maybe use a scale of 1(blurry) - 10 (crystal clear). Like if you look at a computer screen/phone, can you even make out words, or is it completely blurry? How about when looking at someone 3 feet away? At what range does your vision become really good?

Thanks to anyone that replies!

    I had both eyes done Monday 6/22 with monofocal IOLs set for distance. Granted it's only been 5 days, but my vision has been remarkably stable with the biggest gains coming on day 2. Since then it has gotten incrementally better and as of yesterday I could read my cell phone quite comfortably with bent elbow (about 18"). To answer your questions specifically;

    "Maybe use a scale of 1(blurry) - 10 (crystal clear)." ***Probably 7 - 8 inside 3' ***

    "Like if you look at a computer screen/phone, can you even make out words, or is it completely blurry?" Slightly out of focus inside 3', but much more subtle than I expected. The degradation in focus changes very little until about 9" and then blurred, but not terribly so. I can read my cellphone, tablet, computer monitor comfortably, but use 1.5 readers to "work" meaning to type fast and multitask

    How about when looking at someone 3 feet away? At what range does your vision become really good? At 3' it's very good, from 3.5" out to the horizon it's outstanding.

      this is interesting. with symfony lens looking at a person is very clear even at 1 feet. while reading on computer is good to watch a video i would need 1.25 readers and to watch a HD video on phone i would need 2.5 readers.
