If you took propranolol did it help your dizziness? I can't find anything online that it help MAV. Plenty snooty migraine itself to buy not the vertigo that is vines with. I'm suppose to start 10mgs tonight but I think I'm going to cut it to 5. I have low blood or edit like 110/70 and I'm reading it drops blood pressure. If anyone has take it could you please share your experience

Thank you

I know someone who took it to help with MAV and they also were on pregbalin i think.

That combo worked really well for them! smile symptom free these days!

We will all get there one day, its all trial error but yes if your worried then i would start on a smaller dose too and work my way up smile

      Hi Charlotte

Thanks for the reply.  This week has been pretty good, I've had one bad day of dizziness.  Sometimes I wonder if I need to take the meds.  I've noticed since I'm not letting it bother me like I was with so much anxiety and worry, its been better.  But I guess I'll try the meds and see what happens.  Hope your doing well.

      Hi Patty,

I am happy to hear you have had a better week! It will get better, a lot better! smile it just takes time. I would keep taking the meds for a while as they don't work wonders short term i heard. Your symptoms will appear again if you come off them too soon (thats what i have heard)

Unfortunatly the last couple of weeks for me have been really rough however i am seeing my specialist next week and i am hoping he can help me. I am not any medication yet.

Anxiety is an evil thing, i wake up with it every morning

      Hi Charlotte

Anxiety is evil!!!! I used to wake up every morning in a panic and then anxiety throughout the day, I would panic driving to work. I think since I've accepted that this is MAV and not something sinister and truly working on no letting the dizziness get to me, my anxiety has lessened. I think the dizziness and the fear of what each day would bring just scared me to death and it took over. I've also been working on not being stressed so easily. When I feel the dizziness coming on I breath and tell myself your ok, I rest a lot more when it's bad and if it's real bad I take a Xanax. I've been trying to stay away from foods that I think are a problem, well last night I ate pizza and of course the headache started and today I've been off all day. At first I thought it was the meds but I'm trying not to blame it all on that and scare myself. It's hard because anxiety has a mind of its own and can make us think awful things.

I hope they can help you to feel better. What is it you have? Are you dizzy all the time?

    Patty.,

You know from our conversations that it helped me, a lifesaver.

If your dizziness is truly MAV, any of the traditional migraine preventative meds will potentially help. There is personal differences, where people have to try a few.

All meds have potential side effects. If you are medication resistant, you need to try the major diet/lifestyle mods to try to control it that way.

    I am doing great now.

      Hi Liz

I'm glad your doing great. I did take the 5mg last night before bed. I woke up tired and a headache, some dizziness when moving around. I think the dizziness that comes with the medication is the lightheaded when standing up type? Does that sound right? I'm so afraid of side effects that my anxiety goes up and makes it hard to tell what's causing what.

I had been fine for a couple of days, I wish this was easier to figure out

Yes, propranolol can make you a little lightheaded when standing up at first. That went away pretty quickly for me. My neuro said if I ever got lightheaded, to increase salt a little. I've not had to do that. Maybe keep taking the 5mg until the side effects lessen, then go up to 10. It usually won't be effective for MAV/migraine until u get up to a therapeutic dose.

Goodness if it doesn't work til you get to the theraputic dose, it will be a year before I get there. I'm hopping that this headache I've had all day, that I think is from the medication goes away, it has just sat with me all day. One of those ones that you can feel but it never really gets going, but annoying no the less.

I think staying on the 5mgs for awhile is a good idea. I appreciate all the help you've given me. Thank you

My neuro says 40mg is the absolute minimum dose to help. However, when I started the 10mg, I found relief even at that low dose. But it didn't last, and I have found my sweet spot around 40mg. But everyone is different, so who knows?

Don't give up too quickly. Give it more time. And read the book I mentioned. It was a godsend for me. Stop all caffeine, no hormones. Do the extreme diet challenge to start. If none of that helps, and u are not having any episodes of hearing loss, then u may need to consider depression /anxiety as the cause, and try an antidepressant.

I truly hope you feel better soon :-)
