Hey, don't panic. Periods are controlled by hormones, and they are sometimes all over the place. I had a period last for forty days when I was your age, I remember.
We are all hoping for regular hormones. I understand being afraid of going to the doctor. I remember my first times! So hard. And now I go and complain to them all the time!! Just had to get used to it.
I think you do have to go to the doctor, just to double check nothing is wrong. The doctor will probably scan your uterus from the outside (no pain!) and maybe do a bit of an internal examination.
I hope you have someone you can go to the doctor with, a sister or friend or mum. There is no point putting it off, really, it is a part of life you just have to accept and get used to. And it is certainly not as bad as our imagination paints it.
Big hugs to you,
Jennifer

It could be something so simple that can be treated easily, I would imagine that they will run bloods to check all of your hormone levels and see what happens from there.

Sorry to seem so blunt, but my OH had a worry like that (blood in his urine), turned out to be bladder cancer. But because he saw his doctor (and because his doctor is brilliant) he quickly saw a specialist and the result is he was treated and is fine.
It's easy to say 'don't worry' when it's not you. I know you must be, so go and see your doctor!
