    Hi

I’ve had mine since beginning of Feb, although not diagnosed until mid March. I’ve had one physio session and am having my jab next week. Gentle physio exercises every day, slight improvement in movement, but increase in pain. Really hoping the jab will reduce the pain. How has yours been?

Hi Kerry my pain was so severe i got the injection on Thursday and have been on Naproxen Oramorph & Paracetomol. Pain has defo eased but mobility of shoulder and arm is very limited. Its scary how quick it all happened. Ive got physio booked for 2 weeks time and have next week off work. Are you working and driving yet ? Im praying for a speedy recovery. Hope your not in too much discomfort

      Hi Julie

My FS came on gradually, so I haven’t missed any work yet. I work in a school and have been on Easter holidays for the last 2 weeks. I can drive although it does hurt a lot.

ive been trying to keep using it as much as possible, which I think causes more pain, but definitely keeps it from getting worse.

The physio exercises have also helped. I have seen a little improvement in movement. I’m just hoping the injection will take care of the pain so I can work harder at the exercises.

Make sure you keep it moving. At first I protected it and tried to rest it and I don’t think that helped at all. Good luck!

I’ve had a frozen shoulder a year this month! I feel your pain Julie. The only advice I can give you is painkillers and a hot water bottle after the steroid injection. Now my shoulder has started to get better after a whole year! I spent a lot of money going private, for an injection and PT only to be told by another specialist that no amount of money will do anything! It’s just time ... I came on it’s own, and will go on it’s own! Best wishes to you! X

Hi Elizabeth thanks for replying. Have you got all mobility back now ? I get so frustrated not being able to do everyday tasks. Do you mind me asking how old you are ? Ive literally just turned 50 !!!

No I haven’t got full range of movement yet Julie, but it’s getting there! I’ll be 49 in August! It will get better! My specialist told me it’s the most painful shoulder injury ever to have as the pain is chronic.

Stick with the physio, it will make the difference between a short recovery and a long recovery. My doc injected me last June, but he didn't refer me to physio. So by October I needed a second injection as my shoulder was beginning to lose range of motion again. But, he still didn't refer me, nor did he suggest exercises.

Now, after having the manipulation done at end of February am I finding the pain is quite a bit less and I have regained over 70% function. I do the exercises I was given in February faithfully and sometimes I really need to push through the pain to get maximum stretching at the shoulder.

I am glad I have continued with the exercises, as without doing so I would be much slower in my recovery.

My first time with FS was about 12 years ago, when I was 55 and I played golf, lifted weights etc. Then my full recovery was in less than 9 months. I didn't know that what I was doing by keeping the shoulder in motion helped in the recovery. This time, I tried to protect the shoulder by not overdoing things, which was not the thing I should have done.

Stick with the physio and a speedy recovery.

Hi Julie, Ive been in your shoes and i really feel for you. I hurt my shoulder in November last year and because it hurt so much to move it, frozen shoulder set in. i had 3 steroid injections which never worked. Physio at my local hospital which didn't do much good cos it hurt so much.  so i was pretty much living on pain killers the whole time.

I saw a orthopedic consultant at my hospital and he was pretty useless and didn't give me any hope at all really and i was getting so upset and desperate. i have been off work for nearly 6 months as i do manual work and was told its not safe for me to be at work. SO lol I took the bull by the horns and went to a local private hosptial and saw a wonderful consultant who specializes in shoulders. he confirmed that i had frozen shoulder and said that i would benefit hugely from MUA and that he could do this for me in 2 weeks time. I would have to wait at least 6 months on the NHS.

I decided to have the procedure done.... 2 weeks ago!! and what an amazing instant result. I have 95% ROM back and i hope to return to work next Sunday. My shoulder is still a bit sore and weak from not being able to move it properly for 6 months and i'm still taking some pain killers now and then but nothing like before. It is honestly the best decision i ever made.

I wanted to post something positive on here because 5 months ago i was reading everything about frozen shoulder and was reading all the forums about it and desperately trying to find answers. I dont think there is anything so debilitating and painful as FS and i never new what a massive impact it can have on your every day life. I wish you all the best.

    Regards

    Anne

    Hi Julie,

I posted earlier about taking MSM for frozen shoulder. I started taking it on Sunday and I’m already recovering. This is without any PT, injections, chiropractor, etc

I wanted to use it a few days before posting and  it really works. It has been a miracle! I highly suggest trying it. I don’t know if it works for everyone, but it’s worth a shot because it’s only around $11

I know the pain is unbearable! The first night was still bad, but that was the last time. I am now sleeping pain free and I gaining my movement back. If you try it, I hope it works for you too smile
