Hello Sarah
I know what you're going through. It's the not knowing and the waiting and the worry that is getting to you? Are you in the UK? If you are, once you get into the system the breast services are very good. you will get a dedicated nurse and phone service. I expect the next step will be a mammogram. Then it's normally 2weeks to get results. So it's waiting and worrying. More than likely it will turn out to be nothing. I know you don't want to tell anyone but be kind to yourself and reach out to a friend or family member that you trust and share your fears. It's no time to try to be strong and suffer alone.

Sarah,
I'm so sorry you're going through this! Please try to be gentle with yourself as much as you can be; and if you have someone close to you that you can confide in that can provide you with comfort, please know that you need to share this! No one can be strong without help!
Please let me know how you do. Am praying for you!

I can understand how your feeling. The not knowing and waiiting around is horrible, and your mind seems to dream up the worst possible scenarios. As others in here have said, it is really improtant to share this with someone, even just one close and trusted friend or family member.
And I can understand you worrying about your family, and feeling "not ready to leave them yet". I felt so scared when I got a diagnosis of breast cancer on New Year's Eve and felt very very mortal. However try to remember, even if it is breast cancer, that the majority of women survive breast cancer nowadays and the treatment is swift once you get in the system. Someone else has said about being given a dedicated nurse and telephone contact if you get in the system. They are fab. However, while you're awaiting your appointment you can always phone the Macmillan helpline as often as you want for someone to talk to. Their is 0808 808 00 00. If you live near a Maggies Centre you can always drop in there and talk to someone - they are also fantastic, but there aren't that many of them around.
I hope your appointment comes through soon, and wish that all turns out to be quite straightforward. (My mum had a lump in her armpit next to her breast, which was biopsied and was nothing sinister at all, so it may be that it's just a small cyst or fatty lump.)
Try to be kind to yourself and find someone to talk to...

Hi Sarah,
It is all very overwhelming and frightening when it seems time is moving at a snails pace with getting appointments and most importantly, results! It's so good that you've told your partner as having someone to lean on is really important.
Try to think positively, I know only too well how difficult it is right now but it does help. Razouski is right, it could well turn out to be a simple cyst. I got cysts constantly when I was younger (42 now), I had 22 in my left breast alone and numerous in the right plus underarm in one MRI scan. Docs were surprised to say the least!
Your a strong woman, with a loving partner and 4 beautiful children. That's your rock. You are not in this fight alone, we are all in it with you.
Warm wishes and Godspeed, Shakey xx

Do you know how long test results take and did you ever get any answers the same day?
I hope you are well and thank you again x

Hi Sarah,
I luckily have not had any issues with lymph nodes. I have however had cysts in both breasts, overlies ( excruciating when bursting), behind my left ear and worst of all panty line of crotch!!!
Im not sure but I think cysts can form in just about any part of the body. Google it and see??
Results.... ONCE is how often over the past 20 years that I got a result the same day as a biopsy. That however, was a lumpectomy in hospital and I was absolutely blessed with a simply fantastic surgeon.
Are you in the UK? If your anywhere near " The Lister Hospital". My old specialist is now there. Buggar moved half a planet away from me....
Peter Barry has the best bed side manner of any doctor or specialist I've ever seen! He made the results speedy because he knew how scared I was.
Hope this helps xx

You are brave too, you just don't know it yet. Stand tall and glare straight ahead at the fear of what might be with the hope of what can be.
We are all here to back you every step of the way x

Hi Sarah,
I can understand what you're going through! But please remember that finding out what's going on will take some time. The waiting is necessary, because the doctors will know more after they see you and possibly do tests. The results will let them respond appropriately.
Try not to lose heart! Be good to yourself and take it easy, as much as you can. We're here for you! x

Hi Sarah
Shoulder/back pain is no doubt due to the stress your feeling. Treat yourself to a massage to help you relax. Have a soak in a nice hot tub with some lavender oil and play some relaxing music. Both will help, if you've found more lumps, report them to your doc.
Im in Oz and its Sat arvo so I'm guessing you've had your appointment?
Hope all is well, warm wishes, shake.
