Hello. I usually get vaginal thrush and each time i get it the doctors would test me for sti and everything it would come back clear... a few days ago i noticed i had 2 yellow head spots one at top and one at bottom on the labia majora near the vaginal enterance. I have been with my boyfriend for 6 years and i only got tested a year ago for an sti which came back clear. I went to the doctors and he said it looks like i have genital herpes. The spot looks nothing like the pictures on the internet and they arnt a group of small blister close together. If it is herpes then i dont know where they have come from because neither me or my partner has had sex with anyone else since i last got tested. Im really worries what do i do? Please help

Honey I would get a blood test done a swab test can show a false negative and 50% of the time does. Your doctor is probably right. I have it and have never had a small group of small ones it's always been a single blister

Iv had both swab test and blood test done just waiting on the results. I have no idea where its come from though. Only thing i can think of is the sti test before didnt cover herpes and its been dormant or my boyfriend has had a cold sore and gone down on me. What happens now? What happens if we both have the virus do we always have to use a condom during sex? Will this lead to any other complications? I cant believe it im absolutely heartbroken sad

If you both have it, no reason to use condoms. He very well could be asymptomatic, like the vast majority of carriers. You won't really know for sure, until you both have been tested and find out what simplexs. As long as you refrain from sexbduring symptoms and take daily meds, your chance of transmitting it is about 6-12%. I know people who were married to someone for 7yrs and never got it from their spouse. Hang in there

    1. Did you ever specifically request a herpes test? If not and just has for a full screening, then you were never tested for herpes previously.

    2. He very well could have passed it to you from oral sex. Getting a blood test is the only way to tell. It takes about 3 months for your body to build antibodies to an STD after contracting it. My first teat came back negative, but second one 3 months later came back positive.

    3. Mine did not present typical lesions either. There is no one size fits all w herpes. Everyones body acts differently and none of mine looked like they did online.

I think they just tested for general sti. So could be a chance that iv always had it but its just been dormant?

What happens now? Iv read some many different things about herpes on the internet and cried so much. Iv not even had the results back yet but i can just tell its not going to be good news :,(

There's a chance you've had it or he's had it, or he gave it to you orally. You won't know until you both are tested. Until then as hard as it is, you need to try and not stress out about this, because there is nothing you can do to change your circumstances and the last thing you need, is stress causing breakouts. After the both of you get your results, only then you can determine action plans or if one is even needed. I know it doesn't feel like it, but it will be OK. This isn't the end of your life and you can still have a normal life w this diagnosis. We all take it pretty hard when we are first diagnosed.

So if its simplex 1 transmission its from a cold sore. Its if simplex 2 its sexually transmitted?.

Thank you so much for your help. I feel alot better now

i will let you know friday smile

Simplex 1 can be transmitted orally and genitally. Simplex 2 is spread genitally. It is almost impossible to get hsv 2 orally. There are only a couple cases and they were immune compromised patience w AIDs. So hsv 2 would be genitally.

Good I'm glad that you feel better. Just keep your head up and know that it'll be OK.

You should have asked to speak w someone else. Did you get swabbed and/or blood work? If it is a new infection, keep in mind your blood work will likely come back negative. Mine did from my first ob and came back positive 3 months later. The swab test is highly sensitive, but has a 50% chance of giving false results due to the short period of time you have to swab it. You only have like 48hrs or something of the sore blistering and breaking I think where you can swab it and get anything from it
