Hi!
My problems started for about 7 months ago. I was in toilet and noticed some blood and a little bit mucus when I had diarrhea. It stopped and same thing happend 2 months later. Since that I only have constipation or diarrhea with mucus, not blood very often. In this 7 months I have noticed blood maybe 6 times. I visited a doctor he took a blood test and it came out normal, and my stool sample was all negative (no blood in stool) and calprotectin level was at 15mg, all the test was normal. I have tries to get a time for an colonoscopy but my doctor have scheduled me for an rectoscopy instead. What should I do and what do you guys think my problem is?

A rectoscopy just check the rectum compared to colonoscopy which checks both rectum and colon.

Dear Jack colon cancer is a rare cancer for someone your age I'm not a doctor but if you don't have other symptoms like abdominal pain and other things I would think it s probably something minor I haven't seen anyone young on this forum which had something bad but peice of mind is everything I'm sure if your symptoms continue after you have the other test insist on a colonoscopy I wish you the best maybe the rectoscope will give you answers and you won't have to go through the colonoscopy

I recommend that you get on the colon cancer forum on this site. They are the nicest people ever. I'm on it as my sister was diagnosed last October with two different kinds of cancer colon and lung. And I needed to talk to people with the diseases. It has helped me immensely. I have learned so much and they are tender and kind in the midst of a hell of a storm. God bless and good luck Jack. Be your own advocate. Diane

Hi Jack-Look on the BeatingBowelCancer site-and they will advise you -they have nurses who can help you. I agree with others comments I doubt if you have cancer. It's probably something else-I wouldn't know what that might be - not good guessing what's wrong.
I would say colonoscopy is the best thing to have.(Camera in your rear end-gastroenterologist can see whats going on)!
(am a recovered Bowel Cancer woman have been for 3 years (next month)-having CT scan this week)
for monitoring purposes.
I am probably the age of someone's grandma (I don't have kids/g/kids)-I was told more at risk because of family history.
Get colon test you will feel less anxious!
Good wishes from me
Susan

Jack if you have no blood or loss of appetite or 10 percent of your body weight loss that's a good sign I'm not a professional but try to stay busy and hopefully that week and a half fly by and I hope your mind is eased soon please don't let the anxiety take over your life as I have please let us know how things go sincerely
