Imbalance even after 3 months of BPPV. Worried

Hi everyone.

I had a BPPV attack in mid Feb and had Epley done for right and left side which resolved the spinning sensation. But I dint recover from imbalance fully. Lately I saw another doctor who said I have 'Loss of Body Schema' due to BPPV and was prescribed Prothiaden 50 (Dosulepin). Has anyone else had a similar experience? Looking for a tips/suggestions/timeline for when this imbalance will go away. In the meantime I am doing VRT exercises regularly which seem to help somewhat. Quite frustrated from the whole experience. Some days I feel normal and some days are bad and I am stuck at home feeling off balanced.

Sorry you are having this problem. May I ask, the days you are better, can you relate them to anything? I have VN and I notice when it rains or there is a change in the weather, my symptoms act up. Are the meds helping at all? I don't think it's a condition that clears up instantly. You gotta keep doing the exercises, I think that's the solution.

Nice to know someone else is dealing with lingering imbalance! I was diagnosed with BPPV about a month ago and I thought I was getting better last week because I had two days of feeling fine, but woke up last week with the feeling all over again. I never had a spinning sensation or nausea, just a constant feeling of imbalance. I just had an MRI and it came back clear so my doctor isn't very sympathetic to my plight. He doesn't even seem to want to send me for physical therapy. Maybe I'll just start doing exercises on my own...

Agnes, sometimes the lingering dizziness with BPPV can last a while. mine went away for 2 weeks then came back. I feel better now but am going for Physio. if you want some exercises, I'll will send you the ones my physio gave me. But the internet has exercises as well. It will get better.

Thanks, Maria! I would love to know what your exercises are. I looked some up online and have already done a round of them and I think it did help the feeling initially so I'm hopefully if I keep it up it will help. Nice to know your dizziness came back as well. Makes me feel better that I'm not "abnormal"!

      Hi Agnes,

here are the exercises my physio gave me, I hope they can be of some help.

      1. make sure you go for a walk for at least 20-25 minutes every day. When you walk, focus on something like a tree or flowers, for at least 5 seconds, then keep walking for a minute or so then do it again focusing on something else for 5 seconds. So five seconds of focusing, the one minute off. Do this while you are walking.

      2. pick a spot on the wall like a line on a picture or something, keep your eyes on the same line and move your head from left to right and back,,only slightly, never taking your eyes off the line. Try to do it 75 times and do it for a minute. then do the same thing, except move your head up and down. 3 times a day. stand about 2 feet from the wall. you should be doing this 75 times within a minute.

I find this helpful. I've not been dizzy for close to a week. Keep doing it, even if you feel better, it can only help.

good luck, let me know if they work.
