Hi, I had an FHR almost 8 weeks ago. I'm 45. I wondered if anyone else has had problems staying well since the surgery? I normally fight of anything but in the last few weeks ive had a stomach bug and now I'm laid on the sofa with what i suspect is the flu or a chest infection. Feel dreadful, too ill to move for the last two days. I'm feeling very fed up!

I caught a cold about 10 weeks post op.  I think its due to the fact that we haven't mixed with different company for a few weeks and our immune system is a bit low. It didn't last for too long though and I took some echinacea tablets for a few days which seemed to help.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

Having surgery can cause some blood loss and is a challenge to the bodies immune system. If your blood results don't show infection, try to remain unstressed and consume nutrient enriched foods. Eating good quality proteins will boost your iron while consuming a range of fruits and vegetables will be helpful because of their vitamins and antioxidants. I had a large portion of freshly steamed broccoli it took me about a week and a half to get back to normal.

Hi deedee271. I had my surgery  on the 4th of March after waiting 15 months, and being in a wheelchair  for 6 months pre op.

i was in hospital for 8 days post op with all sort of complication, as soon as I got home I had a chest infection, and on my second lot of antibiotics, and feeling very lethargic with no energy at all. I hope when this goes I will soon pick up and hopefully feeling back to normal. I am still staying positive, and you try and do the same.

I am now on the list to have my right hip, and left knee done, I can only hope I won't have to wait so long for my next surgery, but the waiting list in Wales is ridiculous, if an animal was in so much pain, their owner would be prosecuted, and rightly so. We've paid into the system all our life, and should not have to suffer in this way.

i wish you all the best with your recovery

    regards

    Mary

    Hi DeeDee

I had a stomach bug at about 4-5 weeks and a nasty chesty cold last week, still got it but I got this off my daughter and her grandchildren who come to make sure I'm alright. Lol

I think its just a coincidence that its that time if year and a lot if these viruses around.

A hospital is the worst place as there are loads of viruses from other patients, visitors and staff and your body is at a low ebb.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, it can knock you back and in my case I am a shadow of former self, but staved off infection, etc with herbs.  Met someone on here - a real old sage - and I thought I knew a lot about alternative meds having worked for a former GP/homeopath to the royals.... In your position, I would be on the following, putting mastic powder, with MSM powder in a morning juice, with a teaspoon of turmeric.  Then I would get a tincture of Olive Leaf Extract (look it up) it fights off bacteria, virus and fungals....  Then a pick me up, like an iron tonic, and eat very very well.  If you are on painkillers, Tramadol can act as a pick me up - seems to affect serotonin.  Otherwise if you rely on GP, ask for amitriptyline and B12...  Get your bloods done, you may have a low grade infection.  I would also be inhaling hydrogen peroxide vapour (I put 2% solution in a spray and use it around my space and a squirt in each earhole at night)  It is only oxygen.... (Look that up).     Don't forget GPs dont get any training in nutrition.  A young doctor at my partner's oncology department told him to eat more red meat (he is dying of colon cancer mainly due I expect to a lifetime on red meat and little else).  I raised my eyes to heaven knowing I'd be wasting my breath.  He was about 21.  God help us, I'd rather see a vet...

The last entry by Gentillschi has probably the best advice. Many people would have problems being able to come up with these practical remedies without doing thorough research. In addition to turmeric, cinnamon mixed in a based of raw honey can have beneficial effects as well. Yes, food should be our medicine, but sometimes we need a little of both.
