implant removed, am i protected against pregnancy?

I have been on the contraceptive implant for 9 months, I went to the doctors 3 weeks ago regarding the prolonged bleeding, and the nurse prescribed the mini-pill. 3 weeks later there was no difference so I returned, had the implant taken out and switched to the combined pill.

The advice is usually to use the pill 1 week prior to having the implant out, however I have switched pills (no break for the 3 weeks of mini-pill to the combined pill) so I am just wondering if I will actually be protected against pregnancy immediately still?

Thanks in advance
