Impossible to lose weight when you have hypothroidism

Hi I've had hypothyrodism for 15 years. I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2012 so for 5 years it was left undetected & untreated. My hypothroidism was mild so the doc didn't give me any meds. But a few years later my levels were higher ( in a range where she advised to me to start taking meds)

And now since 2020 my hypothyroidsim levels are higher ( TSH levels) so I think I need to start taking Levothyorxine.

I decided not to take Levothroyxine because it interacts with a nasal spray that I have to use daily due to a deviated septum & nasal polys that cause post nasal drip, runny nose & blocked nose. On the leaflet of Levothyroxine AND the nasal spray, it states that there as interaction as it contains ingredients that interact i.e pseudophrenine, hydroholiride & oxymetazoline

Hence why all these years I haven't tooken meds for my hypothyroidism. I have to choose between the Levothroyxine & the nasal spray. And I choose the latter as the post nasal drip causes a big build up of mucus/phlegm in my throat that causes bad breath & blocks my throat. I could choke to death if I don't use nasal spray daily!

Anyway even if I wanted to start taking Levothyroxine, I'd have to go see an endicronologist but I won't as I don't wanna catch covid. Since the start of the pandemic I haven't been to see any doctor or specialist because of the risk of catching covid ( well I have been once or twice but the last time I went a girl coughed in the waiting room & I nearly catched covid! I had to do a PCR test which turned out to be negative)

Besides I can't see myself taking Levothyroxine all my life! Because if I stop taking it, my TSH level will increase so I will gain weight and I will have to take it again! I don't wanna take this med for life!

So for years, I haven't been able to lose weight let alone maintain my weight because of my hypothroidism.

Add to that that I'm obliged to take pills that make me constipated so that makes losing weight practically impossible since having a bowel movement is essential and more effective than exercise if you want to lose weight.

I do take Meteospasmyl ( which has a laxative effect) but the last ones I got last month from the pharmacy have gone bad & become ineffective as it was exposed to 33°C ( which is more than the 25°C stated on the box & leaflet)

But even having hypothroidsm alone makes it impossible to lose weight. I have to eat less than 1 000 calories a day to just maintain my weight ( a normal person without hypothryoidsim can eat 2000 calories & still maintain his weight without gaining weight)

As soon as I eat something ( a meal for example) I instantly gain weight! Even if I starve myself & eat practically next to nothing, I don't even lose weight ( my weight stays the same)!

Even if I eat for example ( some sweets/candy or pasta) I gain weight

It's so frustrating because it'a affecting my love life as no girl wants to have sex with me because I'm fat ( I'm a few pounds overweight)

Indeed I have a fat pad due to the extra kilos and the fat seems to accumulate to certain body parts i.e fat pad, tummy, neck and ass

The thing is I managed to lose weight, got my weight to a weight I wanted to maintain but then after 2-3 days I regained 3-4 kilos! Even though I didn't eat much!( Although some of it was water weight)

I think it's due to my metabolism. Mine is VERY slow. This is why I can't lose weight or maintain my weight. Quite the opposite, I gain weight easily! That explains why I'm gaining weight even though I don't eat much.

if you have tested positive to thyroid antibodies then you have Hashimotis underactive thyroid, post nasal drip is linked to Hashimotis, you need to be on medication for life with Hashimotis as it's autoimmune where as your body is attacking your thyroid which controls alot of different aspects in the body, including metabolism.
