In limbo

I have an echocardiogram scheduled for the 9th even though my cardiologist says I'm probably fine. In the mean time I've been having heart palpitations every day. At least that's what it feels like. But my heart rate monitor suggests my heart rate is normal (60s-70s) when this happens. I actually have less palps when I'm excercising and my heart rate is high. Anyone else have this issue? Every day while I wait for my appt I'm freaking out about my heart. I've tried not wearing my HR monitor and that increases my anxiety. Would love to hear from others

The absolute most common symptom with anxiety is worrying about the heart...even when test after test says heart is normal. It is the symptom we read hundreds of times a week.

Scroll through other anxiety discussions in this anxiety forum and you will learn a great deal.

I am sure you will be hearing from others on this, Mandie. Hugs

I know. And normally I wouldn't worry but if you've seen my other posts lately I've described other worrying symptoms such as breathlessness and fatigue which is why I keep worrying. After the echo I'll be fine. It's funny because I'm studying clinical psych in grad school right now but when you study anxiety and when it's happening to you personally it is very different.

Breathlessness and fatigue...also very very common with anxiety. My two most common.

Have you read through other anxiety discussions? Very helpful, Mandiewink

I have chest pain and heart palpitations the cardiologist just ran a stress test an ekg and a xray and said it was not my heart so i guess anxiety can really cause heart palpitations and stuff

It def can. My issue right now is just that I have a lot of new symptoms that I've never had before with my anxiety and my doctor thinks maybe something is wrong with me such as a stomach related issue but hasn't ruled out my heart just yet. I hope it is just anxiety so I can move on

60s to 70s is normal. When it gets too low is when you need to start worrying.

It's goes lower than 60 sometimes when I'm sitting or lying down (58,59) but gets even lower when I'm sleepy or asleep. The thing that's scaring me is just that my heart rate doesn't seem to reflect how anxious I am. I can be on edge with a normal heart rate or calm with a high heart rate (both while sitting down).
