I am having rectal pain in internal sphincter feels like something pushing on it I also have incomplete bowel movement I do not fully empty then thus causes more pain and mucus..hip and lower back pain. I had hysterectomy in feb this year urogynaecologist though this would cure my problem but has made it worse. I’m being passsed around from pillar to post can’t get any help..in the past I had what they thought was pudendal nerve pain I was never convinced as it’s always been high up in rectum and trouble evacuation stool..I’m sure my gp and local hospital think it’s in my head where do I turn for help I’m at my wits end can’t live with this forever

Hi curtin I am trying to get a second opinion but struggling to get to the right kind of doctor to look into this for me. And because I had a proctogram 4 years ago the doctors still refer to this even though I tell them things have drastically changed since my hysterectomy

Gee what's up with these doctors? Maybe you have scar tissue growing around a nerve.I hope you find a good doctor!

Can you get a second opinion with another urogynacologist.

I did that after my first anterior failed hun. Do not stay quiet over this. We know our bodies and when things are not right. Do your research and tell them it's s since hyster. I'm wondering if it's scare tissue.xx

Hi I’m desperately trying to get a second opinion but keep getting fobbed off  due to previous problems with pudendal nerve issues when this flags up on my records drs don’t even look they just blame it on this I know it’s not pudendal nerve but getting them to listen is another matter. How are you now I think we had our first surgery around the same time a few years ago when matron was still around

Oh bless you hun. Yes I'm doing great. I had my anterior redone in Jan with tvh. In the 2 years waiting for surgery my uterus decided to say hello so decided it's best to remove it as I had done menopause age 45 naturally so wasn't too bothered emotionally.. Also the stitch may of not held up for long so didn't want to take the risk.

I had a new professor in urogyna to do my last Surgery and I was amazed by his highly skilled experience.

My back wall is slight grade 1 bu t with my stool and taking chlorella by bowels a t e soft and regular. I do take movicol also incase it's a bit out of balance but usually it's fine.

Im.still paranoid about doing things but I am.a lot better mentally this past few weeks.

Im.so sorry to hear your story. Shame you are not in wales,my urogyna i s just outstanding in his experience. I travelled home to see mine 4 hrs away. Hugs to you lovelyxx

    Hi Karen,

I too have almost constant lower back pain & cannot find out what’s causing it. I was ok until I had a hysterectomy & anterior repair in late 2013. The op went well but I’ve had constant bowel problems since. I also had a rectoenterocele repair with SSF in November 2017. In fairness to the urogynaecologist, she did say that the op probably wouldn’t relieve the back problem. Op went well again & I did everything as I should. GP has now referred me to a gastroenterologist (I have previously seen a colorectal consultant too!) I have had a colonoscopy which was clear.

I find it so difficult to explain how it feels. The discomfort is in my back but it’s not muscular it’s as you say more like pressure pushing down. He’s got another test lined up for me then will probably refer me to a dietitian, I think he’s possibly barking up the wrong tree. I was really surprised that the colonoscopy was clear as it feels so sore inside to me.

It all goes back to gynaecology & bowel people not working together I think. Difficult to know what to do next? IBS isn’t helpful as that covers a multitude of symptoms. I’m lucky, I have private healthcare & was seen quickly but still no answer I’m afraid. X

Hi yes like you I cannot explain the exact location of pain only that it’s deep inside rectum above internal sphinctre like something constantly pressing causing pain which seems to radiate to hips and bum cheeks if I lie down with legs elevated and hips elevated it seems to take the pressure off it. I have private insurance but really don’t know where to turn to colorectal or urogynaecologist x

I'm sorry about your problem. I wish these doctors weren't so rushed. You have to keep trying to find one that can help.People shouldn't have to suffer these days

      God bless

I found the colorectal consultant was mainly interested in Botox injections.  I mentioned this to the gynaecologist & she warned me that, in my case, it could lead to incontinence.  I’m not going anywhere near that! I really want to avoid any more surgery so will do all the tests the gastroenterologist suggests & see what happens.

Personally, I think the damage was done in childbirth 20+ years ago. I’m in my mid 50s now & it’s all going wrong!

Have you seen a specialist female physiotherapist? I saw a really good one & might see if I can get another appointment with her again as she was just as helpful as all the doctors. Good luck. X

My colorectal dr wanted to take my colon out he wanted to try a temporary stoma and if pain stopped remove colon!! I have been to physio but on Nhs as none private near me the nearest I have found I am prepared to travel to her but she has a huge waiting list..yes I agree childbirth has caused the problems too. I have appointment with Gastroscopy in October I am prepared to let them have a look at me but know it’s not their area that’s causing problems although as soon as you mention bowel issues they say ibs x

Take it out? That seems a bit drastic! Is the pain there all the time or does it vary? Fingers crossed your October appointment will be helpful. X

Just got a letter to say my October appointment has been cancelled and moved to end of November I’m not a happy bunny so I’ve researched and spoke to others on Facebook and made a private appointment for next Tuesday 190-00 though but sick of waiting at least I will get another opinion..has matron gone for good off her now x

Sorry I missed your reply. That’s a nuisance, I don’t blame you for getting another appointment nothing is more important than your health. Matron hasn’t been on for a long time now which is a shame. Let me know how you get on. X
