In pain and no one has a clue why. elp

I am 18 years old and a virgin and for the past 7 months I have been having right sided pelvic pain. It started to be painful when i lay on my back and was quite a sharp pain. Following this, i began to experience a dull sort of pain which would come and go. Soon after I began getting a sudden sharp pain from time to time ( the pain is a cross between period cramps and the pain i experience when i had an appendicitis). Then i would the pain when lying on my stomach or my right side. I took a month to get the that stage and is still ongoing. Paracetamol and ibuprofen don't help with the pain. I have been to my doctors 5 times now and had many sort of diagnosis (IBS, PCOS, Cyst) but nothing has been discovered or found. I have had a pelvic ultrasound done ( Internal and abdo which didn't go over the area with the pain) which only found a follicle on my right ovary ( I started my period 2 days after the scan). All my blood tests and urine tests have come back normal. My doctor has put me on amitriptyine 10mg for the pain as it has been affecting my sleep as i can't get comfortable and was waking me up and is getting in contact with gynecology for advice.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have an ideas of what is going on.

Its getting really annoying now. I am a student nurse and don't want it to effect me when on placement

Hi, have you had keyhole where they make a couple of tiny incisions & put a camera down inside you to see for sure? Scans don't always show things. I myself had similar pains, they would start mainly on a morning when i woke & then gradually got worse to the point where i couldn't get up & go to work. I had keyhole & they discovered i had endometriosis. I had a couple of cysts removed & one burnt down & then they put me on the contraceptive pill back to back which help supress the endometriosis but if you have cysts that need removing, you need to have the surgery. It's not the best experience but it's short term recovery & if you get the right gyno like i did that cares about giving you the correct aftercare, i.e, blood thinners while you recover to avoid clots & try to make sure you get up & have a little walk about each day afte surgery helps speed recovery up. You feel like you can't even lift yourself up for a couple f days but you've gotta push past it & try walk, even if you're resting on someones arm.

      Thanks for the advice emmyr.

No I havent had keyhle surgery for diagnosis. I am still waiting to hear from Gyni about what they want to do. I had keyhole sugery to remove my appendix and the surgeon noted to me that my right ovary was polycystic and had fluid around it, which I keep bringing up when I go to the doctor.

Hey, It is possible you do have endometriosis. With you having your appendix taken out if you do have it, it will have attached to your scar tissue from that operation which will cause more pain.

Have a look into endometriosis (i'm sure you already have). Check the symptoms see what you have similar. Don't let them fob you off with other things, if you think you have it. You more than likely do. You know your body more than any doctor or specialist.

If you get offered a laparoscopy, accept it. Don't be worried, I was fine two days after mine.

    Good Luck in getting diagnosed.
