In the process of getting an Dx

  1. I've had symptoms of UC for about 3 years now and am in the process of trying to get a diagnosis. My symptoms include bloody stools, anemia, cramping and left sided stomach pain. Last year i went to the hospital with excessive pain and bleeding. A Ct scan was done and showed thickening in the walls of the rectum. I then had a flex sigmoidoscopy several weeks later after symptoms subsided. The doctor didn't take an biopsies, said everything looked normal and sent me on my way. Since then, I continued to have symptoms on a regular basis but haven't been taken seriously.

Last week, the cramping became so intense that i had to go back to the hospital. At that time i was passing large amounts of bloody mucous following one bout of diarrhea. I had 3 days of passing only mucous and blood with no stool. My BMs have begun to normalize but i continue to have pain.

Stool samples are negative with the exception of the presence of white and red blood cells.

So, my question is, does this sound like UC and if it is, would a scope show it definitively if symptoms are not active during the scope?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer.
