Incision

So I'm 16 days out from my right total hip replacement. My incision is a little red and swollen and tender. I have NO other symptoms. It's this normal or is it infected?

honestly get it cheked out....if you have a fever or chills..yes it could be an infection...blood tests to measure your white blood count and elevated pain can be done over a 2 day period to ensure you dont have an infection...very important

It is probably nothing to worry about, but get it checked today.

Stitches, staples or Glue. Could be just the healing process most likely. When is your follow-up? Best of luck

They used glue and febuary 2nd.i just got off the phone with the doctor they said it was normal and if I start running a fever or the incision starts oozing pus or draining or becomes hot, then to call right away and then they would worry.

My surgeon says that whatever you see happening on the outside is also what's going on inside! I'd get it checked out even just seeing the surgery nurse if you don't want to bother the doctor. I never had any problem with my scar in fact the dressing came off after 10 days and was nice and dry. It's now at 14 weeks a lovely neat scar no longer than an iPhone 5 on length 😊

Hi Lindsey.Does the incision have drainage? Is it more painful? Does the area surrounding it feel warm or tender to touch? Is there any areas that appear to be gapping ? When an incision becomes infected it will tend to get pink. Its worth a discussion with your Doc because here we are at a weekend. You don't want infection getting into your bone, which starts with the incision.Does not hurt to give the Doc a call ?
