incontinence after incontinence surgery!

I had the sling operation in March 2010 and after had to self catherterise due to urinary retention for approximately5-6 weeks I then had a period of approximately 6-8 weeks of passing urine fine and not leaking at all! But since then I have gone back to how I was pre-op!! I have been back to see consultant and had urodynamic investigations again and it appears that the sling is in place and working when I cough? Although I did,nt leak before when I coughed etc I usually leak with movement like walking, standing sitting, Dancing etc!!! I am at my wits ends now as if the operation had'nt been successful at least I could of had it done again! Im now waiting to see what we do next! Im 37 and have had enough!!! sad sad

    Hi,

Sorry to hear of your problems after having a TVT. I just had one done 2 weeks ago and seem to be okay at the moment - well atleast I can walk and stand without leaking! Im back at work today and the only thing that is bothering me is that I can not sit for too long on an office chair without becoming uncomfortable and it being my first day I am quite tired.

I have 2 sisters who have had the operation and for 1 it worked and for the other it didn't so I would assume you might be one of the 10% that it doesn't work for.

Here's hoping that you get sorted out and back on track, and here's hoping I don't go backwards but continue to go forwards with it.

    Take care

Hi Jane, glad your recovering well! Did the operation work initially for your sister? Are they looking into other options for her? Im so fed up about the whole thing now! Im waiting to go back to have a pad test were they put you through an agility type assauly course and then weigh the pad too see how much you leak! How humiliating is that!!!

    Hi,

That test sounds dreadful - not had to have that one, although it does sound better than having the balloons blown up as I didn't get that test finished as I nearly fainted!!!

My sister has had 2 operations and neither of them have worked, I think she is just battling on herself and I don't think it is now as bad as it was. Mind you she is now 70 and would not probably want to go throuhg another operation.

    Hope you get sorted soon.

    Take care

    Jane
