    Dear vic,

If you didn't mention your recent diagnosis of HSV-1 genital herpes, I would have assumed that an itchy, sore, red vagina with discharge would likely indicate thrush. Is this possible??

I ask because unlike HSV-2, genital herpes caused by HSV-1 is NOT typically associated with recurrences. Unless you can see ulcers and a rash suggestive of an outbreak of herpes, I think it's worth trying some thrush treatment (pessaries and cream) first.

OK- thanks for the update. Sounds like both of us were on the same page in thinking of thrush initially. I think seeing your doctor is a sensible thing to do, now that you've also tried aciclovir.
