Increase in setraline...freaking out!

hey everyone, ive been on setraline for a couple of years, i had an extreme low point and was suggested i go up to 75mg from 50 mg. i feel like garbage...not physically just mentally. ive been on it 3 weeks today, and am feel no improvement. I keep reading about how it would take 4-6 weeks to kick in, but i guess i figured it wouldnt be that long as i am already on it, and only increased by 25mg. i have increased anxiety, extreme brain fog and other depression like symptoms. please tell me theres a light at the end of this tunnel, because im feeling this drug is not helping. 😦

i find that any increase in sertraline increases my anxiety for the first two weeks. its horrible but worth it in the long term. i usually counteract the heightened anxiety with a small amount of diazepam.

I couldn't take the increase from 50 to 100. My anxiety was through the roof and I gave up 1 week in and went back down to 50mg. Maybe in due time I'll try again but, it's freaking tough! 😦

    Hi Kelly!

I'm in the same boat. I just recently increased from 50mg to 75 mg and have been on for 17 days now. I'm starting to see major improvement, but some moments I do get the increased anxiety. I had major brain fog and no appetite the first about 9-10 days, felt out of it. Now I'm starting to experience the headaches. I am staying positive though, as I try to remember how all this was when I first started to take sertraline. I felt the same as I do now, but about 4 weeks in, side effects went away. You're body is just adjusting to the new dose, as is mine. Stay positive! It took time to adjust when we first started, and it'll take time now. We will feel better!! Try to drink LOTS of water, as i found that helped with brain fog throughout the day. Surround yourself with positive and happy people. I downloaded an app called SAM that I utilize a lot when I'm feeling more anxious than normal. Hoping for a speedy recovery!

    Kelly,

It took me 7 weeks on my new dose of 75mg (after increasing from 50mg) before I finally felt better. Unfortunately it does take a while for some of us. I have heard some people started feeling better earlier but 3 weeks on a new dose is still too early, in my opinion. Hope that you are an early responder.
