Increase to 50mg, feeling generally weird

I was on 25mg of Zoloft for almost a month, then started on 50mg last Thursday. I got some of the side effects I had when I first started the medication a month ago, except now I just feel...weird. It's really hard to describe the feeling. I feel very out of it, out of my own body, numb, severely exhausted, etc. I know I'm also dealing with depersonalization but can't tell if that feeling is part of it. It's almost like I'm just waiting for something bad to happen.

But it's also difficult because I'm currently on my period and have been having to take Benadryl every night because sleeping without it is impossible. So, I feel like I'm not entirely sure what exactly is causing this feeling. Has anyone else dealt with this while on Zoloft? I experienced this feeling just a little bit when I first started taking it but now it's starting to get in the way of my day to day life.

    Hello AlexLD,

yes I have the same feelings. Not myself and feeling like unfortunatley this might be the new normal? I hope not. They prescribed Zoloft (2 weeks now) to me for Panic Attacks, which I am told is due to stress and anxiety. I was very reluctant to take them but what as the end of my rope so decided to give in. The side effects have been awfull. Severe headaches, eye pain, neck & shoulder pain & diarrhea. I am taking the 50mg at night around 8pm. I am able to go to sleep but wake around 230am, and after 2 hours of watching TV, I am able to go back to sleep only to have to wake up on time. I also have leg pain and shaky hands and arms. I too have been letting this get in the way of day to day functions. I have lost interest in all things......very difficult even to the things I enjoy most out of life I no longer have an interest. The Dr. tells me to keep going and it will take at least 4 weeks to feel the effects. BUt then I worry about the 50mg not being enough. I hate taking any medications at all so taking an AD has been even a more depressing thought.

Ugh, definitely in the same boat. I hope this strange feeling will go away after a while, because I do think the Zoloft will eventually work. However, lexapro is next for me if I don't see any changes in the next couple weeks.

I also have the shakiness pretty bad. It went away the third week of the 25mg but came back once I started the 50mg.

I hope these side effects will soon go away for both of us!
