i have been on 25mg of levothyroxine for the past 6 months...it hasn't really helped a great deal with the tiredness bloating and unable to loose weight but it has taken the very worse away. A week ago it was put on 50mg of levothyroxine but this has made me feel more like a zombie .... is this normal with an increased dose ?

thanks

Yes it will make you feel worse and possibly for s few weeks while your body adjusts to the extra thyroxine.

    Give a bit more time.

I take mine at night time because I felt so groggy when taking first thing in the morning

You will soon find out gp's don't know a lot about thyroid or levo. But any good medical professional will know that after research was carried out, it was proven that levo works better at night, it turns out the body absorbs more of the given dosage. Make sure you take it four hours after your last meal when it has fully passed through then your body is able to absorb it. Google it. There is actually a huuuuge thread in here called something like 'taking levo at night changed my life'

A lot of people take them at night, if you had your last meal about  6 and go to bed 11ish your stomach won't be too full smile

Has anybody asked their doctor what these levothyroxine do because I asked and was told they help you feel better, um in what way it's like when you take painkillers they just mask the pain, these levothyroxine also do the same thing make you feel better, they will not cure your hypothyroidism!

Start to do your own research, docs are not very knowledgeable. So tsh is the stimulating hormone and tells your body. How much T4 to release. This is then converted into T3 which your bodies cells need to function properly. If your thyroid is out of whack and you are producing too much or too little T4, you will be given levo thyroxine , which is T4. So it doesn't mask anything. It replaces something that is missing

I have healed an underactive thyroid gland, hypothyroidism is curable you need to work things out its just I can't say to much as there is a book coming out soon, so the hashimotto disease will be a thing of the past!

Its something like, how to heal your body with gods food!
