Increased sertraline dosage = side effects?

Hi there-

About two weeks ago I increased my sertraline dosage from 50mg to 75mg. I’ve noticed mood swings, very mild panic attacks, and crazy insomnia. Is this normal? Or could it be caused from something else?

Thanks in advance.

Hi John I was only on 50mg for a wk . Then went bk to doctors and told him it didn’t feel as tho they were working so he put me up to 100mg. I don’t feel as bad as I did but still not sleeping without sleeping tablets

I was on 50mg for about a year. I upped it just to see if it would improve my anxiety and mood further. So far it’s doing the opposite. 😂

I’ll give it some more time.

So did the 50mg work for a while and did you see an improvement . I'm on 50mg for 8 weeks with little change really and just wondering how long to hang on for ?

Yes, it did help. I started to see improvement after about 2 months. It happened very gradually. I would talk to your doctor and let them know you haven’t seen improvement!

I’ve been taking melatonin. I like that it’s a natural supplement, but sometimes it’s just not enough.

Hi does ure sleeping tablets help you? And where r ures from

They do help most of the time. You can buy melatonin at any pharmacy usually. Walgreens, Walmart, Target, etc by the supplements.

I am one of those highly-sensitive people, so for me even going from 25 to 50 mg was a gradual adjustment with the increasing feeling of a pounding heart beat, more freaked out with panic feelings, etc. I think that is totally normal as long as it doesn't carry out longer than 4 weeks. We have anxiety and/or panic, so of course our minds are going to behind-the-scenes freak out a little (whether emotionally or physically) when a change in our chemical make-up happens. Try to take it easy on yourself and relax when you do "notice" the things you say. I'm increasing soon. I will follow my own advice smile We're all in this together!! xx
