Increased to 50mg after over year on 25mg and freaking

I was prescribed 50mg 6 years ago. I don't ever recall any issues when I first started taking it. After about 4 years I cut the dose from 50mg to 25mg and still felt good with no sides. For the past almost two years 25mg has been great. Life has been a bit more stressful lately so I decided to bump it back up to 50mg....on my 14th day all hell broke lose. Honestly I had no idea that increasing it would have this effect. I would have just sucked it up and dealt with the little extra stresses at 25mg if I woukd have known that going to 50mg would make me insane. I wake up at 4am almost sick to my stomach and just worried about the craziest things. I dropped it back down to 25mg, but when will I go back to before I tried bumping it up? It's now been 4 days since going back to 25mg and while I'm slightly better I'm still a basket case. Anyone with experiences please share.

And please tell me it's the increase to 50mg that has made me feel this way....that's my saving grace right now and what's keeping me positive. I'm hoping after another week or so back on the 25mg that this will disappear

Hey Sue - I have been on 50mg of Zoloft for years (over 15) and have recently increased to 75mg due to breakthrough anxiety. I am on day 16 of the increase and have brutal side effects (specifically no appetite and increased anxiety). After your increase, when did you start to feel some relief? I am sleeping better so that's a plus but honestly, I am tempted to return to 50mg or find something else. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

That is awesome - thanks, Sue! Mainly I am concerned about my weight as I don't want to eat anything! I will continue for sure for the next two weeks (until I am at the one month mark) and hope for success like yours. I did this once before four years ago and I am pretty sure it was the same kind of thing but it's just great to have reassurance from others. I don't feel nauseous except in the mornings. I have very loose BM's (TMI?) and am quite lethargic. I am okay with all of these things as long as they are TEMPORARY. It is winter here in Canada (I'm assuming from your vocab that you are from Great Britain) and it is freaking coooold which makes it easier to stay in and hibernate (not necessarily a good thing for the brain). Anyway, thanks again, Sue!

Yea, the hoping it's just "temporarily" is the only thing keeping me sane. I feel can not believe that going from 25mg to 50mg woukd have such a dramatic effect on me. Maybe it's because I was on 25mg for soooo long(like 2 years). But a question for anyone that went back down after getting the bad anxiety from increaing it. How long does it take to feel back the way you did before u increased it? Like I said it's been like 4 days of realizing I couldn't handle the increase and went back down.

Personally i cant help on the reducing it but the going from 25 to 50 caused me hell too and you're right its most likely because you've been on 25 for so long hope you feel a bit better soon x
