increasing sertraline dose

Hi all, been on sertraline 50mg for 4 weeks. went to drs today and put me on 100mg. Took it at 12, started to feel sick and headache, is this normal.

    Did you have this when you first started the 50mg? If so I imagine it will go off eventually. I only started them for the first time (50mg) yesterday and I can remember when I ever felt so ill, headaches, trembling vomiting and diarrhoea.I do hope that yoy get over the effects of your increased dose really soon.       Thank you Dawn. I do hope it goes away quickly because at the moment I feel worse than ever. So sick and a splitting headache. Hope for better tomorrow 😊 if I can keep any food down I will try taking it with a meal tomorrow. Good luck with your increased dose x

      I had side effects for nearly 3 weeks, same as you are experiencing, lost 9lb with not eating properly. Hang on in there with them, i'm sure you will see an improvement in a few weeks.

      Thank you for that Dawn. I feel dreadful again this morning and can barely face a cup of tea. I have no idea how I will manage to take the tablet with food. I want to go to bed and slep until these effects have worn off - but can't sleep 😂

      Hi Alice, i drank water all day, you could also try protien shakes if you feel you can't eat proper food.

      I have managed some sips of water, but still haven't taken the tablet, I don't know whether to or not. I just feel so dreadful.

      Hi Alice, i'd persevere with the tablets, the side effects are horrible but it will be worth it in the end. Try takjng them at the same time of day also. Good luck x

      I have just managed to get myself washed and dressed (13.40) I am sipping some water and will see if I can face the tablet in a while. Good luck with your journey x

    Im on 100mg from 50 the side effects are horrible at first but they do pass x

    Hi Dawn,

    Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I've also upped my dosage to 100mg after 4 weeks on 50mg. Fortunately, I've had no side effects. I wonder if the specific drug brand is a factor in your body's reaction. I'm not an expert but there are a lot of posts (particularly from Blu) on these forums about the difference in brands. Obviously the core ingredients are the same, but manufacturers may then add other stuff (e.g. colouring) to mark their brand apart from the rest. There may be something in the 100mg brand that wasn't in the 50mg brand. My brands were different but I didn't suffer any adverse effects. However, because of the experiences of others, I will certainly be aware of it for the future.

    I have.just gone up to 100mg and im the same, awful headaches and sick feeling, also have blurry eyesight and feel as though im going to fall over. Hopefully the side effects will go away soon x
