    Hi Carol05530:

I was unfortunate enough to run into a brand spanking new 1958 Bruick. The Bruick won and as I hit the ground I remember thinking how beautiful the tail lights were. lol Many years later in life a colon resection perforned in Florida caused lots of stuff in my abdomin to become herniated. The last of which is this twelve inch scar. (hopefully the last)

Now for the hopeful news. On October 20th, 2015, I had it repaired in Mexico because of their Medical Tourism program. It was only six days and I had a surgical drain removed because the area became tender.

Last night was really bad for me because I awoke in a half pint of liquid and after feeling around discovered it was the wound. It's Sunday here and I got through the night so I'll go somewhere tomorrow. My medical in the USA went into effect today so I'll try to report anything found. Hope some of this may have provided a little insight. It was painful and I wished I had a hand to hold and not one to carry. Do you have and information?

Hello Carol yes following a bowel peforation neary 2 and a half years ago.  I am in UK and got it repaired just over a year ago, and am now doing well.

If you are in UK and thinking about getting it repaired you need to choose the right surgeon.  I live in Yorkshire, but went to Mr De Beaux in edinburgh on the NHS.  He is very good.  I had abdominoplasty at the same time as my mesh open repair: this was because I had 4 previous abdominal ops, 3 C sections, laprotomy to repair my bowel perforation, so as you can imagine I really needed the absominoplasty, tummy tuck.  All is well for me at the moment.  I had no after effects from my op which as you can imagine was very comples.  Right surgeon is key to a successful outcome with no infections etc afterwards.  Hope this helps carol, from shirley in UK
