Index finger nail curls down & pinky nail splits on side

Posted , 3 users are following.

First, I am asthmatic, so not sure if a chronic lung condition is the culprit. But both of my index finger nails curl downward...for YEARS. And my pinky nail has a vertical line on the side from bottom to tip and I have to clip it down halfway. If I don't, once it grows past the half way point, it actually splits off from the nail and gets caught on everything. Anyone have any clues or ideas???? imageimage

I had really bad nail problems when I was vitamin d deficient. It took a while but everything is back to normal now. Ask to get your vitamin levels and iron checked.

Possibly a sign of iron or vitamin deficiency and anemia. To be sure, you should get checked by your doctor. Many people reduce the look of their curved nails by:

    • Taking vitamin D3 and vitamin supplements
    • Eating a lot of protein
    • Using Biotin combined with vitamin D and calcium supplements
    • Using several layers of nail polish and keeping them cut short
