Infected tear

Hello, I'm a new member, been having awful trouble with what I suspect is an infected tear on the clitoris. 9 weeks in pain. The other day I was in absolute agony, having to walk up and down to distract from the awful pain, in desperation managed to get an emergency appointment at GP's, emamined me and prescribed Amoxycillin and Naproxen plus Omeprazole for pain. Taken the antibiotic for 3 days now, I really hope it works! The pain is excruciating. Has anyone else had this happen, I would welcome any advice you can give, I'm desperate!

The clitoris for me is also the weakest part in the LS 'scheme'.  As soon as I feel the clitoris being irritated I use the globetasol an extra day.  To prevent further infection however, I sit in baking soda baths and do baking soda rinses.  It has worked wonders for me this far.

I had a pseudo cystic smegma abscess. This occurs in the clitoris region. It was terrible. Make sure you don't have this. It is a lump in the clitoral area. I was in agony. Most doctors don't know about it unless they are familar with LS. My doctor had no clue, and still does not think that is what it was, but I am convinced that is what I had after I watched Dr. Goldsteins video. Heating pads helped, baking soda, clobetasol, and Advil. I feel for you. 9 weeks is a long time to deal with this. I know what yo uare going through. It is awful. If it is an abscess, the antibiotics will most likely not help....it needs to be drained. I had immediate relief from pain after.....

Oh! Thank you so much for replying, I will watch Dr Goldsteins video. It has made such a huge difference the last week or so finding all you ladies who are also suffering. I feel no better today, but we have managed to get an appointment privately with a Consultant dermatologist, but I have to wait out until Tuesday.

Hi, and welcome!  You poor thing!  I have not suffered from tears on the clitoris,  but I do get pain in my clitoris, every now and then, and that isn't  much fun either!  Did your Doctor not prescribe you any steroid cream?

When I have had pain in that area, I carefully take a magnified mirror and apply half a pearl sized amount of cream (Clobetasol) and carefully push it under the hood of the clitoris, I then take another half a pearl sized amount of cream and place it on top of the clitoris, rubbing it in well, I do that twice a day, until everything seems to be fine, for me it usually takes about 4 days, and it seems to work well.

Clobetasol  works when your in pain, and need relief quickly, but you have to treat it with respect as it is after all a steroid cream.

You might want to take a look at "New to LS" at the top of the page, as there is a lot of good information there.

I had a pseudo cystic smegma abscess too. I don't understand how you could have put up with this for so long! Once mine got huge and painful I popped it like an idiot, then went into emergency, where they gave me antibiotics. I should have gone in and had it lanced and drained. The thing about oral antibiotics is they can't get to all the bacteria in a big ball of pus, not to put too fine a point on it. Anyway it turned out to be part of the final fusing of my inner labia over my clitorios. Gonzo. No architecture, no libido, now no live-in boyfriend (he was relatively recent anyway).

Oh, I know just what you mean! To be honest I mentioned to my GP  that basically I felt it would be a hazard going to A & E as they most likely would not have a clue! It's happened before! I was diagnosed as having thrush and was prescribed med's for that that just made me feel ill. So I've been struggling on and on just trying the Dermavate. Until Thurs last when I got an emergency appointment at GP's and that's when she loaded me up with  Prescription's. Thank you so very much for your advice, I am desperate and I truly don't know how I've managed ALL this time!!

i'm so sorry about your boyfriend, don't give up.... there are still some decent and understanding men out there yet!

    Ouch ouch ouch!

Antibiotics work wonders - but at a cost to the flora of the gut which can allow yeast infections to proliferate on the undercarriage- the received wisdom to prevent this is to consume live yoghurts, keep the undercarriage from being too acid - hence the bicarbonate sprays and baths- I agree with the others - do look at past threads on this site you will glean a lot of useful tips on managing this tiresome and painful - at times - condition. Take heart tho it WILL improve - it just takes time

    Good Luck Sue

What an absolute blessing that I found this forum, I can't say that enough. I felt like I was dealing with this on my own with no-one who truly understands.  Alas I am dairy/wheat intolerant, but I'm taking pro-biotic pills every day alongside, so I really hope they work. I will be looking through the other posts as you suggested. I've probably had Lichen Sclerosus since I was a child the dermatologist thinks,as I have always had problems but was diagnosed officially back in 2001. But I've never had pain as bad as this has been before, it's awful. I hope I can last out until my appointment with the Consultant on Tuesday. We are having to go private as our local Vulva clinic cannot fit me in until June 23!!!! The NHS is almost sunk..

Once again thank you so much,

Glad to hear you're taking the probiotic pills. I attended my mother's annual pharmacist review of her meds and when I told him I think she's had IBS her whole life, he recommended them and poo-poohed yogurt as inadequate to the challenge. I wish I'd known that in my forties when I was having lots of sex and getting so many yeast infections.

The Dermovate works very gradually. It can be up to two years before you really feel you've got LS under control. It sounds like your diagnosis so long ago didn't do you much good.

Thanks for the wishes, but I'm done with men. In your sixties it's all doctors' appointments and boredom. I got into online dating at age 57. Big mistake.

I'm not bored, but retired men are. The ones who aren't don't bother with online dating.

Another thought Yvonne, the heat of the infection - which in turn causes the area to swell- may be  a large part of the pain you are having to bear, Try cooling the area, crushed ice in a plastic bag  wrapped in a flannel or cloth- slightly damp too may help

Have the antibiotics kicked in yet? Remember that some foods an alcohol will lessen the efffect of some antibiotics - do read the blurb that comes with them to make sure you are getting the full impact

Remember to keep scrupulously clean to prevent secondary infection No smellies tight clothing - or even go commando- Dry with a cool setting on a hair dryer and make sure you look regularly at the area to understand what is happening. Dont try and pop anything - the inflammed tissue will bruise easily and will spread the infection into the surrounding tissues if you are not careful

    Take care Sue

Thanks ever so much for your help!! I think I've been going commando the who time to let the air around the area. Tho' I shall try the ice idea that's a great idea, everything is swollen and it's difficult to walk. I do hope the Dermatologist can suggest more tomorrow, but I've kind of lost confidence in the health providers presently as you can imagine! Thanks ever so, I really appreciate your advice it's a God send.
