Infected toe

Hi,

I have had an infected toe for a few months now. I had antibiotics after visiting the doctor, but the situation hasn't got any better. Attached is a photo. What should I do and what is the next course of treatment?

hey i dont see the photo, but i get infected hangnails on my fingers quite often and what works is to soak the affected area in as hot of water as you can tolerate mixed with a handful of  epsom salts for about 15 minutes then i try and squeeze the area a bit and alot of yellow puss usually comes out.

Hi Dave I'm thinking you need another round of antibiotics, a different one.  Also as will said soak it, dry well and apply a topical antibiotic to the area like neisporin or bacitracin.  And only wear white socks, no color.  Question, are you a diabetic?  If so, go back to the Drs.  Zap

eww, yeah you def need to be soaking that in hotwater mixed with epsom  salts, epsom salts will help draw the infection out and clear it up in no time

I would rather visit a doctor and preferably a surgeon for drainage or some removal of septic tissue actually.

I would also use a lot of betadine until a doctor can see you (if you are not allergic to it) and open it at least once per day to air. I suggest you avoid foot soaks if it is a wound that is open and septic for so long and use betadine dry spray instead.

A doctor should have a look at the soonest. Do you have high blood sugar?
