I had my repair done a week today...and had nothing but pain and severe leaking from belly button...saw GP on monday for new pain meds , then tuesday saw nurse and she said there may be an infecton so cleaned it doc pres erythromycin and lactose. mum has been doing new dressings. .BUT this evening I had the most intense pain like flesh tearing and stinging and lots and lots of leaking....turns out I have a air pocket probably which is trapping fliud thus causing a infection...so I know have 2 lots of antibiotics, tramadol and paracetamol, and amitriptyline to calm nerve ending pain...Has anyone experienced this I had open surgery and hernia was stitched back...how long does this leaking go on for? Feeling fed up...oh and hospital gave after care for keyhole that I never had...:-( please advice

You went to a GP a General Practitioner??!!!

What about the physician who did the surgery. It is his responsibility to treat you until you are well. Provided you trust him. I am in the States and here if somebody has a problem like that and the physician will not do a proper job  people find a good personal injury lawyer and sue the pants off that charlatan. Don't let the surgeon shake of the responsibility and send you off. You may not be the only one who has been maltreated. Find a good "Personal Injury" solicitor.

Here in the UK after day cases sometimes there are no Follow ups with the consultant/surgeon so any problems we have to see Family Dr and or nurse...sad but true..

If you phone your consultant's secretary or the ward you were on they will probably see you.  I have done this before and my hospital was very good, asking me to come down the same day

My mum did phone the ward....and all they say is speak to GP...if GP thinks their is a problem he will send you too A & E .....it's kind of they done their bit...
